ORGANISATIONAL ISSUES Accommodation: The venue of the mid-term conference is in the central part of Ljubljana at the City Hotel. The hotel has prepared a special reservation webpage for this event (single 100 EUR , double: 125 EUR): https://www.cityhotel.si/events/eid/80/ They also offer secure parking in an underground garage (18 EUR per day). Due to the limited number of parking spaces, it is advised to reserve the parking space in advance. The check-in and check-out dates on the webpage are already listed (12.6. – 14.6.2018), but you can of course change them accordingly to your needs. The special rates will apply for the whole stay. You should perform your reservations as soon as possible, because this is in the middle of tourist season in Ljubljana! In the vicinity there are several hotels, however, there are no special rates for the event. Flying to Ljubljana: Ljubljana airport (Jože Pučnik Airport): the shuttle bus normally awaits passengers at the parking lot in front of the airport building (ticket cost 9 EUR/person). It is recommended to perform a reservation for the shuttle - MARKUN SHUTTLE (https://www.markun- shuttle.com/en/) or MNJ Transfer (www.mnj.si/en/mnj-transfer-shuttle-airport/). For Italian partners Trieste airport could be considered as an option, the transfer Trieste – Ljubljana is well covered with shuttle buses or you can use a rent-a-car/taxi. Good transfer company is GoOpti (www.goopti.com/en/transfers). You must perform reservation and payment (with credit card) in advance. Most of the lectures and discussions will focus on the conceptual elements of exclusion, leading to different operationalisations and methodological approaches from qualitative to quantitative and mixed methods research designs. It is not unccomon for COST-Actions’ Training Schools to aim to build capacity amongst early- career investigators, which is why they sometimes offer some form of academic skill training.

    CHAPTER 5 JOŽE PLEČNIK, THE REGULATION OF LJUBLJANA – CLASSICAL MODERNISM 1928-1939 B W Davies Chapter 5 CHAPTER 5 Jože Plečnik, The Regulation of Ljubljana – Classical Modernism 1928-1939 The other major developments in architectural work and town and city planning in Central Europe are not to be found in the efforts of a large number of people but in the work of one man whose architectural oeuvre enriched firstly Prague and then Ljubljana. He was Jože Plečnik; Plečnik is the central figure in a forgotten chapter in the development of international modernism. The Slovene architect Jože Plečnik has become the central personality of a so far largely ignored development taking place behind the façade of functionalist slogans of theoreticians and prominent creative personalities of international modernism including Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe, Frank Lloyd Wright and Alvar Aalto.1 Plečnik had for years remained largely unrecognised even though one of his works, Church of the Sacred Heart, first drawn in 1922 (5.1), arriving at a final design in 1927, dominates a square in Vinohrady, Prague – a robust building which can stand alone or be seen as a focus for Plečnik’s work especially in the inventiveness in the use of historical, regional and even local elements in new, original wholes, ranging from minute details, to major planning projects.2 Plečnik’s return to Slovenia from the Czechoslovak Republic was by no means certain for two reasons: in 1920 Plečnik was invited by Tomáš Mašaryk, President of the new Czechoslovak Republic, to be architect in chief in the remodelling and restoration of Hradcany (Prague Castle).

At a large lake in the marshes near the source of the Ljubljanica they stopped and disassembled their ship to be able to carry it to the Adriatic Sea, put it together again, and return to Greece. The lake was the dwelling place of a monster, which Jason fought, defeated and killed. The monster, now referred to as the Ljubljana Dragon, found its place atop the castle tower depicted on the Ljubljana coat of arms.
