Young Jr. Service Award is a national honor for those “unsung heroes” who provide exceptional service for disadvantaged youth by developing in challenging urban and rural areas.

The mission of the Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award Luncheon is to celebrate community members making a difference through Scouting and support the Council’s Reach Program. Scout Reach is a program for at-risk youth that provides experiences that develop self-esteem, character, values and life skills. For over 108 years, the has led the nation in providing citizenship training for American youth. Scouting has provided youth with character-development programs based on values found in the Scout Oath: Duty to country, Duty to others and Duty to self. Allie L. LUNCHEON KEYNOTE As President of Jack Jennings & Sons, Inc., Jeff (Eagle Scout 1972) contributes his 40+ years of construction expertise to continuing the tradition of excellence his father Jack (Eagle Scout 1930) began in 1948. While the company’s portfolio encompasses a variety of commercial projects, Jeff’s focus has been municipal, multi- family and design/build developments. Jeff works alongside his brother John (Eagle Scout 1972) to manage Jack Jennings and Sons, Inc. Jeff credits Scouting for the core values he carries with him throughout his life and his career. His current service to community includes Florida Hospital’s Cardiovascular Institute Board, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Orlando, Junior Achievement Foundation Board and the American Diabetes Association Executive Committee. He served as Council President of the of Boys Scouts of America from 2008 to 2011. He is past President of Florida Associated Builders and Contractors, past President of the Central Florida Jeff Jennings Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors, past President of the Central Florida Builder’s Exchange and President past President of Country Club of Orlando. Jack Jennings & Sons, Inc. LUNCHEON KEYNOTE An Orlando native, Jeff earned a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from University of Florida. His son Colin (Eagle Scout 2012) is a Junior in the Rinker School of Construction Management at the University of Florida. Upon graduation, Colin will join the family business alongside his two cousins, Jack (Eagle Scout 2007) and Michael (Eagle Scout 2009), to become part of the third generation to lead Jack Jennings & Sons, Inc.

Scouting serves more than 20,000 families throughout Central Florida, including 6,500 registered volunteers. 2,100 youth and over 88 adult mentors are part of our Scout Reach program.

This program serves as a highly successful example of Scouting’s commitment to teaching young people to become service leaders in their community while addressing important societal issues.

Through service and participation, Scouts can earn their uniform, handbook and the opportunity to participate in many campouts and activities. Financially challenged families across Central Florida can apply annually for camperships to summer camp and Cub Day Camp. Over 215 youth attended our unparelled camping opportunities in 2017.
