Anders Baasmo

Anders Baasmo is one of ’s most acclaimed and sought after actors. He got his breakthrough in the Norwegian feature Buddy (2003) for which he won his first Amanda Award. He has since received numerous awards and accolades for his achievements in , theatre and TV series.

Baasmo’s stage work comprises of both contemporary and classical works including plays by Shakespeare, Brecht and Ibsen, and in title roles such as Hamlet (2007) for which he received the prestigious theatre award Heddaprisen, Oncle Vanya (2013) directed by renowned actress and director and Don Juan (2017) at the National Theatre in Oslo.

In 2010, Baasmo was appointed Shooting Star at the 60th Berlin Film Festival for his role of the ski athlete Jomar in the drama North (2009), directed by Rune Denstad Langlo, which was screened at festivals around the world.

In 2012 he portrayed Herman Watzinger in J. Rønning and E. Sandberg’s highly acclaimed feature Kon-Tiki, which received a nomination for both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film in 2013. In 2014 Christiansen played the henchman Geir in Hans Petter Moland’s In Order of Disappea- rance opposite of Stellan Skargård, Bruno Ganz and Pål Sverre Hagen.

Baasmo won the Amanda Award for Best Actor for his role of Primus in the in Welcome to Norway (2016) directed by Rune Denstad Langlo. He was nominated for the Amanda Award in 2016 for his role of Crown Prince Olav in The King’s Choice directed by Erik Poppe. In 2017, he starred in the leading role of Anders, who decides to give up his life in the city and moves to the countryside, hoping to find a simpler life style in the woods, in the Norwegian drama The Tree Feller (2017) directed by Jorunn Myklebust Syversen.

Baasmo won the TV Award, Gullruten in 2007 for his portray of Henrik Ibsen in the TV Series An Immortal Man on NRK. He won Gullruten again in 2011, 2012 and 2013 for Best Actor for his role of Benedict in the Norwegian TV comedy series Dag (TV 2).

In 2018, Baasmo appears in the WW2 drama The Bird Catcher which takes place in the Nazi-occupied Norway. He will star in the leading role of Jonas in the romantic drama series One Night (NRK) and in the comedy Norske Byggeklosser. Baasmo premiered in 2019 Nordic Council Film Prize nominee feature film Blind Spot directed by Tuva Novothy.

In 2019, Baasmo appears in the acclaimed tv series Exit directed Pål Bugge Krøvel which is most watched tv series in Norway and plays a leading role in Rune Denstad Langlo’s tv serie Seizure. Baasmo plays the role of Olav in the movie Out Stealing Horses directed by Petter Moland. Out Stealing Horses is based by Per Petterson’s novel and the movie won the Silver Bear at 69th Berlin International Film Festival. Baasmo is also premiering in 2020 in action feature Burning III as Roy.
