Men and women are not equal; one is not superior to the other. But it is the woman, and not the man, who brings that harmony which makes the world a beautiful place. The Lord had formed every sort of animal, but the man did not find a companion in any of them; he was alone. Then the Lord took a rib and created woman, who the man recognized as “flesh of his flesh.” But before seeing her, the man dreamed of her...In order to understand a woman, it is necessary first to dream of her. Often when we speak about women, we think of them in a “functionalist” manner. Instead, we should see women as bearers of a richness that men do not possess; women bring harmony to creation. It is she who brings that harmony that teaches us to caress, to love with tenderness and who makes the world a beautiful place. Consider the three moments in Creation: the solitude of the man, the dream, and the destiny of both the man and the woman to be “one flesh.” Once a couple who was celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary was asked, “Which of you has the most patience?” They spoke together and said, “We are in love.” After 60 years, this means ‘one flesh.’ And this is what the woman brings: the capacity to love one another. Harmony for the world. Often we hear: “No, it is necessary in this society, in this institution, that there should be a woman because she does this, she does these things.” No, no, no, no! Functionality is not the purpose of women. It is true that women should do things, to do things as we all do. The purpose of women is to make harmony, without women there is no harmony in the world. Exploiting persons is a crime of ‘lese-humanite’: it’s true. But exploiting a woman is even more serious: it is destroying the harmony that God has chosen to give to the world. It is to destroy: “This is the great gift of God: He has given us women.” Welcome! Thank you for choosing to worship with us today and we hope you will return often. If you do not belong to a parish, please consider choosing Corpus Christi as your church home. You may call the parish office at 255-4600 to register.

Can you help? The blank spaces mean we need more help in that ministry. Please come to the ushers room and sign in on the schedule to help. Thank You. BLACK AND INDIAN MISSION This weekend our parish will take up the 134th Annual National Black and Indian Mission Collection. Our support of this collection helps build the Church in African, American, Native American, and Alaska Native communities from coast to coast. Many people benefit from our support of the BIMC: Students in the small mission school in the Deep South; The Catholic Community served by a native deacon in Alaska; the Native American parish on the prairie; schools, parish religious education programs and diocesan ministries depend on your generosity to help them spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You can help meet unmet needs with a generous contribution today. There are envelopes in the pews for your convenience. Thank you for your support.

Marriage Moments: A Good Marriage is not recognized by the absence of conflict, but the presence of peacemaking. One sign of a healthy marital relationship is the desire of a husband and wife to seek unity when there are disagreements and difference. Parenting Pointer: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Leviticus 19:18) Generally, preachers generalize neighbor to mean beyond the person next door. But today, why not take it literally. With your child, choose a neighbor. Make them a treat or do a favor for them together...... Susan Vogt at www.Susanvogt.net.

AFTERNOON AT THE MOVIES WITH A SAINT Join us for popcorn and a movie “Finding St. Anthony - A story of Loss or Light” on Thursday afternoon, March 2, from 1:00-2:30 p.m. in Room 140 (Youth Room) on the lower level. This film reveals the journey of Fernando Martins De Bulhoes, a thirteenth century Christian whom we know today as St. Anthony. Here, we discover a young man who was often “lost” and searching for direction in his life. He wanted to make a difference in the world of his time. As we encounter his humanity, we find someone we can relate to, someone who struggled in life, someone we could have easily called a friend.

FLU SEASON. With the recent announcement by the local hospitals regarding this being the flu season, we pray a prayer of blessing for all in our community. The parish staff will not be able to do daily visits to parishioners in the hospital.

SOUNDS OF SILENCE (SOS). After a suicide...there are people who understand. The Sounds of Silence Support Group meets at Parkway Funeral and Cremation Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway on the first and third Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. (September-May). The facilitators are Brenda Bergan and Kathleen Dwyer. On Tuesday, February 21, there will be an “Open Session”. If you have questions, please call Brenda at 426-1021.

LENTEN LUNCHEON COOKS, SERVERS AND DISHWASHERS We are excited to announce that we are again holding our Lenten Lunch Program this year. Our Lenten lunches are Monday through Friday after our 12:10 p.m. daily mass. These Lenten meals have been very well received in the past and meet an important need in our parish community. The first meal would be Ash Wednesday, March 1, and we would be serving lunches through Wednesday, April 12. In order for this to run smoothly, we need people that are willing to assist us. If you are able to help in any way, please contact Tracy in the parish office at 255-4600. Wednesday, January 25 Feast of the Conversion of Paul the Apostle Make history by collaborating Saint Paul would agree that faith isn’t a matter of words but of how we live. In 1963 the Catholic theologian Yves Congar wrote an essay in which he observed how unity is fostered more by personal contacts than formal decrees. Congar dreamed of a research center in which Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, and Protestant students would publish great church histories—but only after all of them could sign his or her name to each volume.
