Bob Henriquez, Hillsborough County Property Appraiser Bob "Coach" Henriquez is a fourth generation Florida native, born and raised in Tampa. His Great-grandfather, Enrique Henriquez, was the last mayor of West Tampa, before it was annexed into the City of Tampa in 1925. He was a member of the National Honor Society and a High School All American football player at Tampa Catholic High School. In 2011, Tampa Catholic awarded Bob its "Templar Hall of Fame Award" which is the highest honor the school bestows. Bob was graduated from Princeton University in 1986 (the first Tampa Catholic Alumni to do so) with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and has taken Post-Graduate classes in Public Administration at the University of South Florida. Bob completed his fourth term and final term in the Florida Legislature in 2006 as a State Representative for District 58, serving on numerous following committees including: Ethics and Elections, Growth Management, Health Care Regulation, State Infrastructure Council and Utilities and Telecommunications where he is the Vice Chair. During his tenure in the House he was known as a hard-working, reasonable member that was willing to work in a bi-partisan manner for the good of the people of the State of Florida. In April 2008, he was named by Secretary Bob Butterworth and Governor Charlie Crist to head the Department of Children and Families efforts in Pinellas and Pasco counties as the Sixth Judicial Circuit Administrator. He served in that role until 2011. Bob has eleven years experience as Senior Planner with Hillsborough County Planning and Growth Management and the Planning Commission where he served as the Damage Assessment Coordinator and as the Intergovernmental Liaison to the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council. He was the Government Affairs Coordinator for the Builder's Association of Greater Tampa before resigning to run for the State House of Representatives. He worked for a year as a planning manager for SBA Communications, and also worked as a planner/project manager for URS Corporation and Tampa Bay Engineering. He also worked for Atwell-Hicks Development Consultants as a Project/Business Development Coordinator and served as a Special Hearing Master for Hillsborough County for Land Use disputes. At the local and state level, Bob has volunteered his time to many organizations including serving on the advisory board of The Bay Area Charter School Foundation, The Hispanic Business Initiative Fund, The Agency on Bay Management, The Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council, Trinity Charter School for Children Advisory Council, Princeton Alumni Association Schools Committee, The West Tampa Community Development Corporation, The Congressional Youth Leadership Council, The Wellswood Civic Association, The Pinellas County Transportation Disadvantaged Board, and The Pinellas County Health and Human Services Coordinating Board. Notably, Bob served as the Hillsborough County Coordinator of the "NO on Amendment 4" initiative that recently resulted in a resounding defeat of the so-called "Hometown Democracy" constitutional amendment effort. Among the numerous awards and recognition Representative Henriquez has received are the 2000 and 2001 American Planning Association Legislative Appreciation Award, the 1999 & 2001 Legislator of the Year awards from the Florida School Boards Association, Inc., the 1999 Freshman Friend of Education Award from the FTP/NEA, the 1999 and 2001 Legislative Awards from the Florida Division of the American Cancer Society, and the 2002 Florida League of Conservation Voters Legislative Laurel. He also received a certificate of appreciation for outstanding service from the Southeast Seminole Heights Civic Association in January of 2005, and was honored by the Florida Chamber of Commerce for placing in the 2004 "A" Honor Roll. Bob may be best known for his accomplishments as the head football coach at his Alma Mater, Tampa Catholic High School from 1990 through the 1999 season. His team, the Crusaders, had a cumulative record of 66-38, including consecutive ten win seasons in 1995 & 1996 and seven straight state playoff appearances since 1993. From 2000 until 2004, Bob coached at Tampa Jefferson High School. During that period Jefferson reached the State Playoffs five consecutive years and advanced to the State Finals in 2002 and 2004. In 2005, after he returned to his Head Coaching duties at Tampa Catholic High School, a dramatic turnaround in the program ensued. After consecutive 1-8 and 2-8 seasons prior to Coach Henriquez' return, the Crusaders reached the State Playoffs six consecutive years. His recent tenure has produced back to back district titles in 2006 and 2007, highlighted by a 12-3 2007 season and a TC's first ever appearance in the State title game. In 2008, TC reached the State Semi-Finals finishing with a 9-4 record. In 2009, the Crusaders posted a 11-2 overall record including another berth in the State Title Game versus 10 time state champion Jacksonville Bolles. For his efforts, he earned numerous Coach of the Year and other coaching accolades. He was recently inducted as an Inaugural Member of the Tampa Catholic High School Football Hall of Fame. After the people of Hillsborough County entrusted Bob with the incredible honor of being their Hillsborough County Property Appraiser, he made the very difficult decision to resign his coaching position in December of 2012. Bob is a parishioner at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. He is married to Carrie Vaught Henriquez and they have two children, Drew Alexander and Elin Mackenzie.
