Feckenham | Worcestershire | B96 6QL the PLECK The Pleck Berrowhill Lane | Feckenham | Worcestershire | B96 6QL THE PLECK The Pleck is a spacious country cottage currently configured as five bedrooms set within generous gardens. Separate paddock and outbuildings. In excess of 5 acres in total. The Pleck lies a little over to the North West of the ancient settlement of Feckenham. A thriving village and civil parish in the Redditch District of Worcestershire. The modern country home sits only 8 miles south East of Bromsgrove, 6 miles South West of Redditch and 8 miles East of Droitwich Spa. Ground Floor • Porch • Reception Hall • Study • Sitting Room • Kitchen • Breakfast Room/Dining Room • Conservatory • Utility • Boot Room • Cloackroom/WC First Floor • Landing Area • Master Bedroom/bedroom 2 or dressing room with en- suite • Family Bathroom • Bedroom 3 • Bedroom 4 • Bedroom 5 Seller Insight Built in the late 1970s, The Pleck is a very attractive and extremely well-appointed five-bedroom country house that occupies an enviable rural location, just fifteen minutes from both Redditch and Droitwich, and well under an hour from Birmingham city centre. “My husband and I bought the property back in 2002, but it took us a good two years to find it, mainly because our wish list was so long,” says Debra. “We wanted a lovely big family home in a rural location, although we didn’t want to feel isolated, and crucially it needed to be close to good schools, and we also wanted a decent amount of land because my husband needed storage space for equipment he used for his business. When we happened upon The Pleck, I can honestly say it ticked every single box, and a few more.” “The house itself is very spacious and has lots of character, but when we bought it the interior was really quite basic. However, I think the minute we set foot inside we could see that there was lots we could do to enhance it further, and that’s exactly what we’ve done. As well as refreshing the décor, we added a two-storey extension that runs across the back of the building, and that gave us a large master bedroom, a guest bedroom and on the ground floor a really lovely farmhouse kitchen that sweeps round into a large conservatory. The main sitting room has a log burning fire, and also a door into the conservatory so the layout flows beautifully, and the reception hall, which is another gorgeous feature, is double height so you immediate get this tremendous feeling of light and space the moment you walk through the front door. The house is quite unique in terms of its design, and for us it’s been the perfect family home.” “The house sits in around an acre of land, but the property also incorporates just over five acres of paddocks situated just across the lane, so it’s ideal for anyone interested in keeping horses or other animals; we were able to keep Shetland ponies, donkeys and sheep, which was wonderful for the children when they were young. The garden itself wraps right the way around the house and is mainly laid to lawn, and the whole space is edged with mature trees so we always enjoyed a fabulous degree of privacy. What I love most is the utter peace and tranquillity, and the fact that the view is just green all the way around.” “One of the most impressive spaces has to be the very large reception hall; it’s a part of the house that I’d say really has the wow factor. It’s double height, so as you enter the house you get this lovely view right the way up to the galleried landing, and there’s also a log burner in there which creates such a cosy atmosphere.” “The house enjoys a beautiful countryside location, and because it’s surrounded by virtually nothing but open farmland you feel so far removed from the everyday hustle and bustle. However, Redditch, Bromsgrove and Droitwich are all around eight miles away, and I can be in the centre of Birmingham in three quarters of an hour so everything is within easy reach.” “Over by the paddocks, as well as two wooden stables, there are also a number of workshops that were bespoke built for us. They provide a tremendous amount of storage space.” “The house is just too big for me now, so I’ve already moved to a smaller property, but there’s a lot that I miss about The Pleck,” says Debra. “Most of all it’s the fabulous feeling of space, both inside and out, and the utter peace and tranquillity of the surroundings. It’s a very special place.”* * These comments are the personal views of the current owner and are included as an insight into life at the property. A thriving village and civil parish in the Redditch District of Worcestershire. This modern country home sits only 8 miles South East of Bromsgrove, 6 miles South West of Redditch and 8 miles East of Droitwich Spa. Feckenham, for centuries, gave its name to the Royal Forest that occupied a vast swathe of East Worcestershire and West Warwickshire with the village, and Forest Court, as the administrative centre, Much of the forest was deforested during the reign of Charles 1. This quintessential English village is blessed with two churches, a first school, public houses, village green and village shop; that is maintained by the residents. Whilst mentioned in the Doomsday Book there was activity recorded in the vicinity in Roman times as Feckenham sits on the “Salt Way” Roman road, linking Droitwich Spa to Alcester, some 7 miles to the East in Warwickshire. The County Town and Cathedral City of Worcester, lying on the banks of The River Severn, is some 14 miles South West providing for high street and boutique shopping, and characterised by one of England’s great Cathedrals, its Racecourse, County Cricket Ground, Premiership Rugby Club, Racecourse and University. The M5 motorway (accessed via J5 of The M5 at Wychbold or J6 at North Worcester) provides for ready access to the North and South West, Birmingham (22 miles) and the surrounding industrial and commercial areas as well as Cheltenham and its Racecourse (32), Gloucester and Bristol (76 miles). The M42, lying to the North of Redditch also offers access to Birmingham International Airport (25 miles) and the North East. Road travel to London (126) is best via the M40 at Warwick (23 miles). The Parkway railway station at Warwick enables fast access to the capital and the electrified line from Redditch offers access to central Birmingham. The newly opened Worcestershire Parkway Railway station, situated to the east of Worcester, off junction 7 of the M5, is also intended to increase the capacity to London as well as reduced journey times. This will have a significant impact on Worcestershire’s accessibility to the Capital and other regional centres. If education is a priority then Worcestershire is blessed with an enviable mix of schooling at all levels, including a variety of independent establishments, allowing parents to select the right environment for their children’s needs. These include Bromsgrove School (8 miles), Malvern College (22 miles), The Kings Schools and Royal Grammar School at Worcester (14 miles) and the Alcester Grammar School at Alcester (7 miles) in Warwickshire. For days out and recreation The Pleck is well placed for ready access to the North Cotswolds and Broadway (23 miles) as well as Stratford-upon-Avon (16 miles), Great Malvern (22 miles) and The Malvern Hills, and Ludlow (40). The West coast of Wales, at Aberdovey, is 111 miles.
