[email protected] Abstract The QED probability amplitude (coupling constant) for an electron to interact with its own field or to emit or absorb a photon has been experimentally determined to be -0.08542455. This result is very close to the square root of the Fine Structure Constant α. By showing theoretically that the coupling constant is indeed the square root of α we resolve what is, according to Feynman, one of the greatest damn mysteries of physics.
