PRODUCING GRADUATES BIOGRAPHIES

DAVID BALFOUR (GRADUATED 2006) After graduating David went onto to produce films for the UK Jewish Film Festival. He was then giving the opportunity to teach at Met Film, where he became the Director of Undergraduate Programmes for 4 years. In early 2013, he moved to Australian where he is continuing his teaching as well as setting up a company to focus on UK/Australian co-productions.

ALLAN NIBLO Allan is a founding partner in , which has produced 28 films and distributed 35 films to date, having a diversity of output from his first film, the critical and box office hit Human Traffic (BAFTA winner) to The Football Factory (the UK's biggest selling independent film on DVD) to Europe's first 3D live action movie Streetdance 3D. The company continues to strive and has recently set up PFXE, Europe's most experienced 3D facility.

CASEY HERBERT AND PETER SMYTH (GRADUATED 2012) Casey and Peter graduated in 2012 and founded Bright Cold Day films, a production company focused on developed both film and television content. They currently have a slate of projects in development, which include partnerships with Film Four and Fox Networks.

MATT DELARGY During his time at the NFTS, Matt worked as a reader for companies such as BBC, FILM FOUR and Ecosse Films. The relationship he created with Ecosse Films gave him the opportunity to work for them after graduating in 2003 and has since being their Film Development Producer, Co-Producing films such as Nowhere Boy, ’s Wuthering Heights and Brideshead Revisited.

TOM LEGGETT Whilst at the school Tom secured a position at Universal Pictures International and became involved in acquisitions. Tom then moved on to work for the Weinstein Company where he worked on films such as The King’s Speech CXZ` and . And after an 18-month stay at Element Pictures, Tom now works for Film Four.

INNIS MOORE Having previously worked in finance Innis came to the school in 2006. His graduation animation earned him a nomination for a Scottish BAFTA as well as being screened at over 30 film festivals. Since graduating, Innis has set up Treasure Box Pictures and has a number of projects in development with BBC Films, Creative Scotland and Vertigo Films. Innis has also being picked as a producer on the Guiding Lights’ training scheme.

NUALA O’LEARY After graduating, Nuala produced a number of shorts as well as acting as Associate Producer on the feature film Lotus Eaters. Nuala then went on to work at Embargo Films for 2 years, where she assisted Christopher Simon on films such as Pusher and Sweeney. She is now producing her first feature film, Panic, due to be released in 2013.

JUSTINE WATSON Whilst at the NFTS Justine produced the multi-award winning Animation, Stanley Pickle, one of the most successful short films to come out of the school. After graduating Justine secured a job with Caryn Mandabach Productions where she has spent the last few years working as Assistant Producer for their television output.

ANDY START (GRADUATED 2010) Having left the school in 2010, Andy moved to Leeds, UK, to set up his own production company, Start Film. He has spent the last few years developing a number of feature films including a Passion to Market feature where he established a co-production with Spain. In 2012 he partnered with Ealing Studio’s Fragile Films and set up a development company called Story Will Out.

LEN ROWLES (GRADUATED 2012) Having won a BIFFA award for her graduation short, Skyborn, Len has begun development on a number of feature films, including one with the Lighthouse/BFI scheme. She is also producing London Syndrome, a feature film being developed by a Revolver and NFTS partnership.

SOL GATTI-PASCUAL Sol gained success with a number of BAFTA nominations and BBC Award for her short film work before establishing a relationship and setting up a production company with French co-producer, Bertrand Faivre. Since 2001 their company, The Bureau, has gone on to produced a number of successful feature films including BAFTA and OSCAR nominated Joyeux Noel (Merry Christmas), Unmade Beds and Le Femme du Veme, to name a few. Sol has also held the position of Creative Executive for the Microwave scheme at Film London for a number of years.

TABITHA JENKINS After graduating Tabitha worked as a Production Assistant for Ealing Studio’s Fragile Films and in 2007 Tabitha became their Production Executive. She has being the Production Executive on films such as Burke and Hare, Dorian Gray and both the St Trinian’s films.

LACHLAN MACKINNON Lachlan graduated in 2003 and has since set up award winning independent film and television company, Intrepido. He has worked as a producer on television programmes such as The Bill, Spooks, Silent Witness and City of Vice.

JESSICA LEVICK Jessica graduated in 2008 and went on to work in international sales at Film4, Element X and Alliance Atlantis. In 2008, Jessica set up Magnified Pictures Ltd and her first feature, the BFI & Adidas funded documentary PERSONAL BEST was released in cinemas across the UK in 2012 to strong reviews and was featured in The Times Top 50 films of 2012. Jessica has also worked as Associate Producer on the BIFA nominated feature film LEGACY and most recently as Line Producer on DR EASY a Film4 funded short film for .

LUCIE WENIGEROVA After the success of her BAFTA nominated animation film, Sap, in 2003, Lucie went on to work as an Associate Producer on Sally Potter’s film YES. Lucie then set up Spring Pictures, the company that created Channel Five’s successful animated family film Mist: The Tale of a Sheepdog Puppy and television series Mist: Sheepdog Tales as well as producing the highly successful British film, Strawberry Films. In 2012, Lucie completed a production of Let’s Draw the Olympics, a 10-minute animation, featuring artwork created by 180 children.

MO BAZAZI After graduating Mo moved to Canada and became a private tutor. He has produced commercial for Tesco and INPES with B Reel Productions and is currently working on a web based education project, which will have an audiovisual component to it.

ANIA NAKOV Ania moved over to Paris after graduating in 2005 and worked as the Assistant to Claude Ossard on the Paris Je T’aime film collection as well as gaining experience in Production and Distribution with Haut et Court and International Sales at Celluloid Dreams.

ROB WATSON Rob graduated in 2011 and began working on a private equity development slate with Chris Auty. Since then he has been selected for the Guiding Lights scheme, developed ideas through the Vertigo and Microwave schemes as well as taking on the role of Associate Producer for Gone Too Far, due to be released in 2013.

ANNA HIGGS After graduation Anna worked on BAFTA winning digital entertainment media and in consulting on digital strategy and audience engagement for major global brands. She then went on to found Quark with fellow graduate Gavin Humphries, producing multi-award-winning independent film and television as well as working across sales and distribution. In 2011 she joined Film4 in the newly created commissioning role of Head of Film4.0 and has recently being named as one of Time Out’s Culture 100.

JUDY NAIDOO Judy graduated in 2011 and returned to South Africa where she restarted her production company, Black Heat, and changed the focus of the business from commercials to features. Judy also set up Real Eyes Films and were awarded a slate funding deal with NFVF to develop 9 films over 3 years. She is currently being trained by UK Producer Angus Finney to mentor and train producers in South Africa.

JELENA GOLDBACH After graduation Jelena acted as the Programme Manager for the Passion to Market Programme. Shortly after that she moved back to Berlin and began working for Essential Films before joining Amusement Parks Films where she acted as the Production and Development Assitant for their co-production office. Jelena is currently working as the assistant to the producers on the John Le Carre adaptation A Most Wanted Man, researching for a TV Series about the Cold War, has a number of shorts in development and is partnered with Nik Powell’s company Scala for a feature film titled Passing Clouds.

MEGAN WALLACE Megan graduated form the school and begun development on her first feature film through the Vertigo scheme. The film, titled The Facility has many NFTS graduates at its helm and is due to be released in 2013. Megan also produced Asia’s first online drama, Dimensions, and is currently developing a number of projects including a co-production in New York and animated documentary surrounding Alison Botha’s incredible journey in South Africa.

KURBAN KASSAM Since graduating Kurban has set up Pee and Boo, an award winning company offering multi-platform services, with fellow producing graduate Poss Kandeatis as well as gaining experience in various roles across web series, television and film. Kurban has recently being the Associate Producer on Sally Potter’s Ginger and Rosa and Line Produced Pulse Films, Who is Dayani Cristal?, which is premiering at Sundance.

MICHELLE EASTWOOD Michelle’s live action graduation film went on to premiere in competition at Cannes in 2009 whilst her animation graduation films screened at over 60 festivals worldwide. Since then, Michelle has a number of producing credits including Co-Producer for 104 Films (Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll) and has worked across commercials, virals and the education and training sector (Skillset Advisor). She has also established her own company, Escape Films, where she has produced the feature film In Our Name as well as a number of shorts. Michelle’s accolades include a nomination for the BFI/LFF Best British Newcomer Award 2010 and being named ‘Screen International Star of Tomorrow 2009’.

LEE THOMAS After graduating Lee established himself as an independent producer and set up Pipe Dream Pictures with a fellow student. After the success of his first feature film, Crush, produced with BBC and Film Four just one year after graduating, Lee secured a first look deal with Film Four. Lee also became the Head of Production at Screen West Midlands and gained Executive Producer credits for films including Confetti, Nativity! and Michael Winterbottom’s The Road to Guantanamo.

JAMIE WOLPERT After graduating Jamie became the Assistant to David Yates and Book Consultant on the Harry Potter films between 2005 and 2008. He then became the Creative Assisant to Paul Abbott at Abbott Vision for 3 years before starting his current role as the Development Editor for the BFI.

EMILY WILLIAMS In 2011 Emily’s graduation film, The Confession, was nominated for the Oscar for Best Short Film. She then went on to work within the Visual Effects industry where she has held the role of Lead VFX Coordinator at BUF Compagnie (Thor, Monte Carlo, Avatar) and Senior VFX Coordinator for the UK based Motion Picture Company (Wrath of The Titans). Emily is currently living in Canada and is the VFX Production Manager at Motion Picture Company Canada, where she has worked on Life of Pi and The Lone Ranger.
