of God come to our aid”

The Communion of Saints are those children of God who have lived a faith filled life on earth through every circumstance recorded in the pages of history. Their lives on earth were marked with prayers of praise, petitions of repentance and charity to one’s neighbor. Their life in heaven is marked with endless praise of God and charitable intercession for the needs of all God’s people on earth.

This pastor’s note is an introduction to a powerful intercessor whose name is relatively unknown, but whose legacy is reflected in apostolic works in the Philadelphia region. Blessed Louis Brisson, OSFS: (Oblate Friar of Francis deSales).

The Oblates of Saint Francis deSales were founded by a holy and zealous French priest, Father Louis Brisson. He was beatified on September 22, 2012, in Troyes, . This occurred because Benedict XVI declared a 1953 miracle of a young boy in Ecuador as coming through the prayerful intercession of Father Brisson. Their founder is known as Blessed Louis Brisson.

There are always particular needs of great urgency. At this moment there is a parishioner of Saints Simon and Jude Parish who has such an urgent need. To this end, we will be leading a novena seeking the intercession of Blessed Louis. We are mindful that we are seeking the miraculous; we also believe the very teaching of St. Francis deSales who states: “God will either lift the cross from your shoulder or grant you the grace to carry your cross.”

The following prayer has full approval of the .

Prayer for the of Blessed Louis Brisson: Attentive to the signs of the times and in obedience to Your Will, he founded the double family of the Oblate Sisters and of the Oblates of St. . Confident in your providence and joyful in hope, he knew as a good father, how to make himself all things to all people. Grant us, through his intercession, the favors which we ask of You, especially … May holy Church rejoice in glorifying this priest after Your own Heart Who gave himself totally to Your Love. Amen.

Our Novena Schedule will be: 5:00 p.m., Sunday, November 17th; 5 pm Monday, 5pm Tuesday, 5pm Wednesday, 5pm Thursday, 5pm Friday, 6 pm Saturday, 5pm Sunday, in the chapel concluding 7:00 p.m. Monday November 25th, in the Church

God bless you. Father Gerlach

School News If November continues as it started we will have very busy days filled with so much for which to give thanks. Grades 2, 4 and 6 each enjoyed field trip experiences enhancing their understanding of team work, service to God’s people and the beauty and care of nature. Fourteen staff members began a catechetical course on the Blessed which will keep us out of trouble 7:00-9:30 on three Monday evenings. The marketing committee met and has welcomed new members and thus new and exciting ideas. A survey for our re-accreditation data was completed by students in computer class. Parents and Faculty/Staff will be completing their survey in these beginning November days also. And the best of all events in which we participated was our school Mass on Nov. 8. The liturgy helped us recommit ourselves to being good stewards of God’s time, talent and treasure and to be gratefully aware of all in SSJ who give us such a good example of stewardship!

Upcoming Schedule: Monday 11/11 Veteran’s Day remembered in prayer and educational opportunities in each room 1:30 Grades 2 to 5 will attend an assembly on respect for all God’s creation Wednesday 11/13 6:30 Ladies Shopping Night in the Meehan Center – come enjoy the social time and get a head start on holiday shopping Thursday 11/14 Grade 8 Day to Visit any Catholic High School of their choice Friday 11/15 First SSJ Visit Day in preparation for 14-15 registrations.
