Under the terms of the Paris Peace Treaty in 1921 it was annexed to the Serbo-Croat-Slovenian Kingdom, that later became Yugoslavia. The new name of this territory, situated to the east of present Croatia, was VOJVODINA (also spelled Voivodina or Voyvodina). Its former Hungarian name had been Bacska and Banat. During World War II, in 1941, Germany occupied Yugoslavia. At the same time, Hungary took possession of and re-annexed VOJVODINA from divided Yugoslavia. At the end of 1944, the Serbs reoccupied Bacska, which has belonged to Serbia ever since. -

Critical Discourse Analysis of Post-1989 Hungarian
CRITICAL DISCOURSE ANALYSIS OF POST-1989 HUNGARIAN HISTORIOGRAPHY IN VOJVODINA Thesis author: Melinda Laszák Supervisor: Dr. András Kovács Submitted to Central European University Nationalism Studies Department In partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Masters of Arts CEU eTD Collection Budapest, Hungary May 2010 ABSTRACT This thesis aims to present the results of a research carried out on post-1989 minority Hungarian historiography in Vojvodina, Serbia. Special focus is dedicated to the historical narratives regarding the events of World War II and the early years of the communist regime, which were characterized by severe inter-ethnic conflicts in the region. The aim of the investigation was to examine whether post-socialist transformational narratives managed to contribute to reconciliation with the past, or rather served as tools to legitimize nationalism. Applying the methodological guidelines of Critical Discourse Analysis, strategies of shifting blame and responsibility, of scapegoating, of mitigation and avoidance, and the rejection of active participation in shaping the history were found as the most important discursive strategies of Hungarian minority historiographers. By taking into account the stylistic as well as the rhetoric aspects of the narratives, it has been concluded, that although the examined historical works had great importance in breaking serious taboos of the socialist era, they still failed to provide open platform for reconciliation with the past, and became part of competing nationalist -

Education of physicians may have a positive impact on better recognition and treatment of patients with CVI. Material and Methods: During the one year period (2011), we conducted a series of specialized courses on CVI for physicians in the South Bačka region. Before and after each course, the attendants were asked to complete entry and exit tests. During two three-year periods, before and after the education courses (2008 - 2010, and 2012 - 2014), data on hospital morbidity and number of patients with CVI, examined by physicians in general practice and in dermatological outpatient facilities in South Bačka region, Province of Vojvodina, were gathered and analyzed. Results: In the period 2008 – 2010, a total of 1.128 patients were hospitalized due to CVI with an average length of stay of 6.42 days. In the period 2012 - 2014, 1.296 patients were hospitalized and the average length of stay was 3.76 days. -
Lyophilization As a Method for Pathogens Long Term Preservation
Zbornik Matice srpske za prirodne nauke / Proc. Nat. Sci., Matica Srpska Novi Sad, ¥ 113, 203—210, 2007 UDC 579.61:616-092 Mirjana B. Miloševiã, Slaðana S. Mediã-Pap, Maja V. Ignjatov, Dragana N. Petroviã National Laboratory for Seed Testing, Maksima Gorkog 30, 21000 Novi Sad, Serbia, E-mail: [email protected] LYOPHILIZATION AS A METHOD FOR PATHOGENS LONG TERM PRESERVATION ABSTRACT: Lyophilization (freeze-drying) is one of the most suitable methods used for a long term peservation of pathogens. The aim of this paper was the application of lyop- hilization for storage of three significant plant pathogens: Fusarium graminearum, Helmint- hosporium gramineum, and Pseudomonas syringae pv. gylicinea, respectively. The plant material was collected continuously (during a four year period 2002—2006), depending on a plant development stage, from different localities in Vojvodina. Pathogens were isolated from diseased parts with characteristic symptoms, and placed on nutritive media specific for a certain pathogen, using standard phytopathological methods. Lyophilization was carried out in marked and coded ampoules by freezing and drying of pathogen suspension and nu- tritive medium. Revitalization of lyophilized isolates was done after four days. High percen- tage of revitalization was characteristic for all studied isolates, and it ranged from 85— 92%, confirming that lyophilized pathogens would be capable of keeping viability for a long time in the collection. Besides above mentioned pathogens, there were 200 isolates in the collection, originating mostly from field and vegetable crops. Each isolate that was put into the Collection, was followed by all the necessary data such as: name of the pathogen, number of isolates, locality, host plant, year of isolation, name of the researcher and other relevant data.
