The winningest coach in program history (322-199), Hultquist has led the ‘Noles to 16 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, one of only 11 programs in the country to reach that mark of postseason longevity.

Under Hultquist’s leadership, Florida State men’s tennis has emerged as one of the top programs in the Atlantic Coast Conference COACHING HISTORY and the country. In 19 seasons under Hultquist, FSU has had three ACC Player of the Year recipients, six All-American honors, the Year School Position ITA Most Improved Player, two national ITA Leadership and Sportsmanship Award winners and has finished the season 1992-1999 Texas Assistant Coach ranked in the final ITA poll in all 19 of those season. 2000-2018 Florida State Head Coach In 2018, Hultquist had his best season yet, leading Florida State to its best season in program history with a 28-5 record. 28 wins HEAD COACHING CAREER were the second most in program history but were good enough for the highest winning percentage in Seminoles men’s tennis Year Team Record history. His coaching performance in 2018 earned him ACC Coach of the Year Honors, becoming the first Florida State tennis coach 2000 Florida State 14-10 to earn such honor. 2001 Florida State 10-14 2002 Florida State 12-10 2018 also saw the Seminoles defeat the Florida Gators for the second year in a row, both in front of the largest college tennis 2003 Florida State 15-11 crowd of that season. Florida State also hosted the first and second round of the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time under 2004 Florida State 10-13 Hultquist and the first time since 2009. 2005 Florida State 21-8 2006 Florida State 18-12 2007 Florida State 17-10 In 19 seasons at the helm at FSU, Hultquist has defeated 176 ranked opponents including 36 ranked in the top-25 and 18 ranked in 2008 Florida State 21-7 the top-15. Amongst those ranked wins are two wins over the No. 1 ranked team in the country, a 4-3 win over No. 1 North Carolina 2009 Florida State 21-9 in Tallahassee (2016) and a 4-3 win over No. 1 Wake Forest in Tallahassee (2018). Those two wins over No. 1 ranked teams in three 2010 Florida State 15-10 years makes the Seminoles just one of two school to record such a feat. 2011 Florida State 9-15 2012 Florida State 19-10 Hultquist was in charge for five of the Seminoles nine 20-win season in the program’s 80 years of existence. He has also finished 2013 Florida State 18-11 with 18 wins in 11 of his 19 seasons including each of the last seven. 2014 Florida State 18-12 2015 Florida State 20-11 Hultquist began his tennis career at Penn State where he was a four-year letterman and team captain in 1986. During that 2016 Florida State 18-9 same year, he was an NCAA Tournament qualifier in doubles and earned all-conference honors in both singles and doubles. After 2017 Florida State 18-12 graduating from Penn State, Hultquist turned pro, playing in the United States, Israel and Asia. During his career, Hultquist was 2018 Florida State 28-5 selected to play on national teams that traveled to Korea and China for competition.

2018 A SEASON TO REMEMBER The Seminoles head into 2019 coming off of arguably their best season in program history in which they went 28-5. The Noles hosted their first regional since 2009 and made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Coach Hultquist won the first ACC Coach of the Year in tennis in school history. POULLAIN IN THE RECORD BOOKS Lucas comes off of a year in which he won 30 matches, placing him in seventh for most matches won in a season in team history. DOUGAZ REACHES CAREER HIGH Aziz earned a career high ATP ranking of 408 in singles and 455 in doubles in the fall after winning two singles titles and five doubles titles. NOLES PLAYING IN THE PROS Aziz ended the fall as the third highest rated college player on the pro tour behind two players from the defending national champion Wake Forest Demon Decons. NEWCOMERS MAKING AN IMPACT Freshman Richard Thongoana and junior Enzo Le Seguillon had an impressive fall setting up for their first regular season of college tennis. Thongoana went 5-5 in singles making advancing in the Southeast Regional and winning the Dick Vitale Invite doubles championship.
