cENROE burst onto the international tennis scene prior to becoming a student at Stanford University In 1977, McEnroe broke through from the qualifying rounds to reach the Wimbledon semifinals. He turned pro the following year after one year in college.

MCAREER HIGHLIGHTS  McEnroe won 17 Grand Slam titles - 7 in singles (3 Wimbledon, 4 U.S. Open): 10 in doubles (5 Wimbledon, 4 U.S. Open, 1 French Open).  He played on U.S. teams a record 13 years, helping to win the cup for his country five times (1978, ‘79, ‘81, ‘82, ‘92).  McEnroe finished the year as No. 1 player in the world four different times (1981-84), becoming the youngest man ever to achieve the No. 1 ranking.  In 1980, he played a match that many consider to be the best in the - a five-set marathon loss to Borg in the Wimbledon final. N THE early ‘90s he dominated the men’s professional tennis circuit with a game he fashioned out of grit, determination and a punishing inside-out forehand. He was the first in his class of American champions - which includes Pete Sampras and - to hold the No. 1 world ranking. In 2005, Jim was honored by being inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS  In 1989 he won his first ATP Tour title in singles (Basel) and doubles (, with Pete Sampras) at age 19.  Courier captured his first Grand Slam in 1991 at the French Open, beating Andre Agassi in the first all-American final at Roland-Garros since 1954.  He achieved the World No. 1 ranking in 1992 and was named ATP Tour player of the year.  He reached the finals of all four Grand Slams winning twice at the French Open and twice at the Australian Open.  Courier played on two winning U.S. Davis Cup teams (‘92 and ‘95), compiling an overall record of 17-10. NE of the pre-eminent players from the golden era of Swedish tennis. Wilander imposed his will from the baseline with punishing groundstrokes and tactical precision. His initial success came on the red clay at Roland Garros, where he won his first Grand Slam, but he adapted his game to win on all surfaces - even Wimbledon,O where he won his only Slam title in doubles. CAREER HIGHLIGHTS  Wilander burst onto the pro scene in 1982, winning the French Open as an unseeded 17- year-old.  He won Australian Opens back to back in 1983 and 1984.  In 1988, Mats was the most dominant player on the ATP Tour, winning three of the four Slams. ARTIN is one of the best ambassadors that tennis has ever known. His stellar career on Tour was highlighted by two Grand Slam finals and an 11-8 Davis Cup record over 16 ties. ERNFORS was one of two players in the history of NCAA tennis to win back-to-back singles championships. The titles came in 1984 and ‘85 and in that second year he led his Georgia squad to the team P championship as well. CAREER HIGHLIGHTS  Pernfors was a finalist at the French Open in 1986, eventually losing to .  He played Davis Cup for his native Sweden in 1986, ‘87 and ‘89, helping his team reach the final in 1986.  Mikael achieved his highest rank in singles - No. 10 - in 1986. RIAS served notice at age 11 that he was a player to be reckoned with when he won the City Tournament in his native Buffalo, N.Y. defeating seasoned players twice his age (and almost twice his size). Known for a punishing forehand and extraordinary mental toughness, Arias was one of the first graduates of the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy to make big waves on the pro circuit.

ACAREER HIGHLIGHTS  At age 15 became the youngest player ever to achieve a world ranking. He turned pro at 16.  In 1980, Arias became the youngest player (at 16) to play the men’s main singles draw of the U.S. Open.  By 1992 he had risen to the Top 20 in the world, with runner- up finishes in Indianapolis and Washington.  He enjoyed his best year in 1983 with four singles titles, including the U.S. Championships and the . That same year, at age 19, he reached the semifinals of the U.S. Open.  Reached his highest ranking, No. 5 in the world, in April, 1984.  5 career singles titles.  2006 Stanford Champions Ranking: #12.  2007 Stanford Champions Ranking: #17.  2008 Stanford Champions Ranking (As of April 15, 2008): #6.
