Covid 19 Fairy Tales COVID 19 FAIRY TALES Justine C.,TL Once upon a time, in a city hidden in the depths of a forest, was born an evil creature who killed anyone who was in contact with it. This creature reproduced, and within a few months, the creature arrived in my kingdom. After a few weeks, cases started to heal thanks to the hard work of fairies and magicians, but the more the days passed, the more dead there were. The fairy palace was getting more and more sick. And even fairies were starting to get sick. As a precaution, the queen of the kingdom decided to confine the inhabitants. The geniuses continued to give elven lessons, pupils of the kingdom, thanks to their wonderful lamp. At the beginning of this confinement, the elves had a workload similar to that which they normally had, but the more time passed and the more certain geniuses sent work. After 8 weeks spent in confinement, the queen announced a deconfinement. The little elves could go back to study, but the older ones continued to stay at home. The fairies and the magicians were exhausted. after a month, the creature disappeared thanks to the courage of the hunters of evil creature. Maïa S., 210 Once upon a time, far from all preoccupations, a multitude of animals lived in a large meadow. They lived peacefully away from the evil witch who lived on the other side of the river in the dark forest. This witch named Corona had once lived with other animals, but, wanting to lead all the animals of the plain, the thirst for power transformed her into a wicked witch. Corona wanting revenge on the other animals, tried to find a way to do it. When, finally, she succeeded. She invoked an imposing black cloud, a thunderstorm broke out and a violent rain fell on the meadow. Corona had cast a spell, the coronavirus. The coronavirus was a curse that killed anyone who drank the water from the river. The prairie animals unaware of this curse continued to drink this poisoned water. A few days later, the first symptoms appeared on certain animals. The more the days went by the more it got worse. The great ancestral oak tree, seeing the animals of its plain suffering one by one, told tells them that there was only one possible solution, to put themselves in quarantine. All the animals listened to the great oak and the plain became deserted. No more animals left their his homes. The animal families were confined. The parents no longer went to work, the little ones deserted extras at school, and all the animals that worked in the medical community were mobilized to care for sick animals. Among these families, there was a family of foxes who tried to occupy themselves to pass the time, which became longer and longer. One day Papy fox felt very weak, and fell to the ground. They rushed him to the hospital on the plain. Rose, the youngest of this fox Renard family, who adored her grandpa, and wanting to get him out of this situation out of her house without being seen. She went to the big oak tree and questioned it: - "Big oak, I tell you what's going on, my grandpa is seriously ill, I want to help him". The big oak tree replied: "Rose, what are you doing here, you have no right, you have to stay at home, I can't help you". Rose replied, "I'm taking you!" He is going to die ”and tears ran down his face. Seeing this face so unhappy, the big oak tree said to him: "my child, a curse has befallen this plain, Corona has found a way to take revenge and if we do not stop it, all the animals of this plain will die. " Rose understood that it was necessary to act quickly: "what must be done? " Big oak replied: "You see this mirror it will show you the place where Corona is, follow the path to the river and break the curse" But Rose, worried, asked: "But, great oak tree, how can I break this curse? I'm just a child. " Then the big oak tree said to him: "My little one, a tear from a pure heart is enough to clear up a dark world tarnished by bad magic. " Rose looked in the mirror and saw where Corona was, she thanked the big oak tree and headed for the river. She arrived in front of a dark castle, destroyed by time and dark magic and entered by the big door. She advanced but found no one. She went up the stairs and saw a light in the middle of a large empty room. She walked towards this light when suddenly the wicked fairy appeared. Corona asked, "What are you doing here fox, and who allowed you entry? »` Rose replied: "Corona why did you launch this curse, why do you want to make the animals of the prairies suffer!" " Corona stepped back: "Who do you think you are?" I do what I like to do and if I don't like it, I don't care. " Rose got angry: "Corona ends this curse!" " Corona exclaimed, "Why would I do such a thing?" " Rose got angry more and more, felt new tears running down her cheeks: “You don't understand! Don't you have a family Because of your curse all animals suffer! My grandpa is about to die! I can't imagine living without him! Please stop this curse! " Her tears ran down the floor and reached Corona's feet and the wicked fairy turned into a beautiful flower. When Rose opened her eyes the cloud had disappeared, the rain had stopped and the storm had stopped. The animals all went outside and seeing the light returned understood that the curse was over. Rose went home, to the applause of all the other animals on the plain. Finally arrived home, she saw her grandpa who was impatiently waiting for her. Tessa C., TL Once upon a time during the pandemic of Covid-19, a young boy of 17 named Giorno Giovanna was confined. He was the child a famous vampire with magic powers but our hero Giorno was powerless. His parents had been killed when he was 2. The quarantine was too long for Giorno, very very long and boring alone. A night of storm with a lot of lightnings, a shapeless mass got in his garden. Giorno wanted to see what the strange mass in his home was but it disappeared in less of two second. He found just a piece of arrow with which he lightly cut his finger. The next day, he fell ill, he came to see a strange person. Oddly the person appeared outside of him like a materialization of his spirit! In the days that followed, he could infuse life into objects or cure a sick person, and he could use the puppet who followed him to accomplish a lot of tasks. He had acquired magic powers to help the people like his Father! He named his power : Golden Wind . He lived happily and helped many people to cure in his life, he became a famous doctor. Duncan The Night, 1G6 Once upon a time, there was a land without modernity, without glass towers and without endless avenues. This pure land was called Noscam and nobody reigned there. However, several individuals inhabited this land. Mamik was one of them : she was a half girl, half shamp, and usually she took care of her loved ones. She had a human mama, a dragon stepfather, and a gobelin brother. Mamik liked to live life to the fullest, but until now it was rather flat, and made up of routines. One day an old witcher came to the plot and gave a gift to the new baby boy of the land. Then, he left and the mother of the child (preterit) it : a cloud of smoke rose from the thin bark of willow marsault used as gift wrap. One week later, the usual customs were questioned by many individuals from the region. The reigning balance was jeopardized. The perfect and pure land quickly became the scene of many quests for profits to achieve superiority. Some people became helpless, reclusive, others haughty, and sometimes even mean. Everyday, every night the “half-genes” - Mamik’s surname - prayed her lucky star for balance to be restored. However, days after the abominations began, a knight found her. He was sent by her godmother to tell her that it would end, but that the duration would depend on her. He gave her (?) instructions and 2 fairies named Cée and Aif. She was determined not to make this bad period last. Cée and Aif by her side, clear instructions to guide her, everything was simple. But the dragon who watched over her did not want her to go on an adventure. What an ordeal! Thus, her stepfather locked her in a freshly constructed building: he didn't want this period to end. So Mamik sent one of her fairies to find the knight. In the meantime, she began her quest, the first step of which was to free herself from her feelings, and to take charge of her life. By the time the fairy and the knight delivered her, Mamik had matured her reflections, had put aside her gloom and sadness, to give way to joy and calm. So she escaped, her acolytes by her side, and continued to follow the instructions, step two of which was therefore to spread joy, good humor, and repent the creatures.

Course: SKOM12 Term: Spring 2020 Supervisor: Scott Burnett Examiner: Cecilia Cassinger The best a brand can be? P&G’s femvertising meeting hegemonic masculinity PATRICIA AGUDELO Lund University Department of strategic communication Master’s thesis 1 Abstract The best a brand can be? P&G’s femvertising meeting hegemonic masculinity This thesis uses Feminist Critical Discourse Analysis and Multimodal Discourse Analysis to study how a house of brands, like Procter & Gamble (P&G), handles femvertising, that it is produced by its own brands. The paper analyses the phenomenon using examples from commercials that belong to P&G’s #WeSeeEqual campaign and the controversial commercial video from Gillette The best men can be. One research questions served as a guideline for this project: What characterizes the femvertising pieces targeting women and/or men, produced by the house of brands P&G for their brands Gillette, Fairy, Ariel and Always? In order to be able to study this phenomenon, the empirical materials that will be analysed are: 1) #ShareTheLoad by Ariel, 2) #MakeItFair by Fairy, 3) #LikeAGirl by Always, and 4) The best men can be by Gillette. As theoretical framework this paper uses Foucault’s theory of power and the theory of hegemonic masculinity by Connell & Messerschmidt. What was identified after analysing the data was that the different commercials always include hegemonic masculinity somehow in their content, in some it is attacked directly, in others in a subtle and implicit way and in others just excused or justified. Keyword: Femvertising, Feminist Critical Discourse Analysis, Hegemonic masculinity, Multimodal Discourse Analysis, P&G, Power, Foucault.

  • The Impact of Allen Ginsberg's Howl on American Counterculture
CORE Metadata, citation and similar papers at core.ac.uk Provided by Croatian Digital Thesis Repository UNIVERSITY OF RIJEKA FACULTY OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH Vlatka Makovec The Impact of Allen Ginsberg’s Howl on American Counterculture Representatives: Bob Dylan and Patti Smith Submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirement for the M.A.in English Language and Literature and Italian language and literature at the University of Rijeka Supervisor: Sintija Čuljat, PhD Co-supervisor: Carlo Martinez, PhD Rijeka, July 2017 ABSTRACT This thesis sets out to explore the influence exerted by Allen Ginsberg’s poem Howl on the poetics of Bob Dylan and Patti Smith. In particular, it will elaborate how some elements of Howl, be it the form or the theme, can be found in lyrics of Bob Dylan’s and Patti Smith’s songs. Along with Jack Kerouac’s On the Road and William Seward Burroughs’ Naked Lunch, Ginsberg’s poem is considered as one of the seminal texts of the Beat generation. Their works exemplify the same traits, such as the rejection of the standard narrative values and materialism, explicit descriptions of the human condition, the pursuit of happiness and peace through the use of drugs, sexual liberation and the study of Eastern religions. All the aforementioned works were clearly ahead of their time which got them labeled as inappropriate. Moreover, after their publications, Naked Lunch and Howl had to stand trials because they were deemed obscene. Like most of the works written by the beat writers, with its descriptions Howl was pushing the boundaries of freedom of expression and paved the path to its successors who continued to explore the themes elaborated in Howl.
