* You can sum this race up in very simple terms. And here it is: In and Washington, Dave Nagle is known as the guy who knows how to get things down for Iowa. is known as the guy who put the bag on his head. * And too much is at stake in this election to let it be decided by political stunts. * Don't take my word for it. I'm a Democrat. Listen to what some other people said about it." * Guess who said this, when asked about Nussle's commitment to the issues: "I think what the voters expect is at least a full understanding and devotion to the issues. He may win this election but it won't keep him in the House." Who said it? . * Guess *who said this, when asked where Nussle would be without the bag: "He would be, in a sense, a nobody." Who said it? Senator Charles Grassley. Even Republicans know that Iowans deserve better. * Dave Nagle has a vision for district two -- a vision to create jobs, and lay the groundwork for rural development -- to make up the ground we lost when H.R. Gross was in office, and use government as a powerful engine for economic growth. * Well, the second district pays taxes, too. And it's time the second district gets its fair share. * Now, Jim Nussle doesn't agree. He says that the second district should be prepared to sacrifice. Well, I suppose if you grew up in suburban Chicago . . . and lived most of your life in Illinois . . . that would be alright. But if you were born and raised in Iowa and taught Iowa values like Dave Nagle was. If you went to school at UNI like Dave Nagle did. And if you raised your family here. You wouldn't say that the second district should be prepared to sacrifice. You'd put the people of the second district first and fight for Iowa. And that's what Dave Nagle has been doing and will continue to do if you send him back this November: put Iowa first. Don't read his lips. Read his record. Look at the issues . * Dave Nagle and I have worked to got funding for the Avenue of the Saints, which will bring jobs to the second district. Jim Nussle voted against it. * Dave Nagle took the lead in Congress in getting funding for a four- lane highway for Highway 63. Jim Nussle said that's not Congress' business. * Dave Nagle has taken the lead in Congress to get something done about low prices for our corn farmers and dairy producers -- and is one of the experts and biggest proponents in Congress on improving grain and pork sales to Russia. Jim Nussle has his picture taken with farmers. * Dave Nagle and I worked to get a money for a hazardous waste training facility in Waterloo. Jim Nussle . . . well, Jim Nussle put a bag over his head -- and the second district deserves better than that. * The way I see it, voters in the second district this election have a simple choice: between a workhorse and showhorse. Dave Nagle has backed up his promises with action. He's gone to work for farmers, and small businesses, and all the people who pull the load and pay the taxes in this country. * Now, Jim Nussle is a nice guy, got a nice family. But he keeps tripping on his own record.

1 * He said he was against pay raises. But then he gave his administrative assistant and former campaign manager a $30,000 pay raise. * He said he was against unpaid bills at the House restaurant -- then it was revealed he had the largest tab there. * He said he was against the House gym, and then he joined it. * And worst of all, he put the bag on his head to protest bounced checks. And then he admitted that he had bounced checks himself at his personal bank here in Iowa -- and then wouldn't release the records. And he was the prosecuter of Delaware County at the time. * Jim Nussle isn't part of the solution, he's part of the problem. And it's time for him to go. * We have a chance this election to change America's priorities. we have a chance to give the second district a new voice and a new vision. * For six years, Dave Nagle has fought to give Iowa its fair share. He's brought jobs to Iowa and helped open markets for our farmers overseas. He hasn't forgotten about the people he represents. * Don't read his lips. Read his record. Too much is at stake this election for it to be decided by political stunts. Dave Nagle will put the second district first. But he can't do it alone. * He needs your help. Help get the word out for the next five weeks. And on November 3, help him get out the vote. * We can't change America's priorities alone. But together, we can return Dave Nagle to Congress and send Jean Lloyd-Jones to the Senate. Together, we can put in the White House. And together, we can build a New America. Thank you.
