MAIN JUMPING RING

Classes 1, 3 and 5 will be judged under BSJA rule A5- if you jump a clear round you will be required to go straight into the jump off

Class 1- 9.30am Absolute Novice Jumping- Jumps approx 0.70m (2’3”) A5 Rule applies. Open to any combination that has not won any jumping classes over 2’. Kindly sponsored by Five Oak Green Service Station.

Class 2- 10.30am Rescue Relay (Pairs) - Jumps approx 0.70m (2’3”) One round against the clock for each pair. If first rider does not complete their course then the second rider will complete that round and then continue straight on to complete their own round. Timing starts when the first rider goes through the start and stops when the second rider goes through the finish. . Kindly sponsored by Wayside Carriages.

Class 3- 11.30am Novice Jumping- Jumps approx 0.75m (2’6”) A5 Rule applies. Open to any combination of horse/pony & rider. . Kindly sponsored by Chaskits Horse & Rider

Class 4- 1.15pm Scurry- Jumps approx 0.75m (2’6”). One round against the clock. Fastest combination with least faults will win. . Kindly sponsored by Ton Hire

Class 5- 2.15pm Intermediate Jumping- Jumps approx 0.85m (2’9”) A5 Rule applies. Open to any combination of horse/pony & rider. Kindly sponsored by Autobahn German Car Specialist. Highest placed MDRA member will receive the Terry Chapple Challenge Shield.

Class 6- 3.15pm Terry’s 3 Jump Challenge- Three jumps only that will be raised after each round until a winner is found. Jumps will start at approx 0.70m (2’3”). Open at all. . Kindly sponsored by Tony’s Tack. Highest placed MDRA member will receive the Caroline Chapple Cup.

9.30am until 12- Clear Round Jumping- open to all. Heights of jumps will increase at intervals- £3.00 entry on day. All entrants MUST register with the secretary, have a number and to have paid First Aid. Correct riding wear must be worn. Rosette to all clear rounds.

Class 23-1.15pm Minimus Jumping- Jumps bottom hole. A5 Rule applies. For genuine novice riders on lead rein or assisted. Kindly sponsored by Trevor Simms Property Maintenance.

Class 24- 2.15pm Really Absolute Novice Jumping- Jumps approx 0.60m (2’0 max) A5 rule applies. Open to any combination horse/pony & rider. Competitors in this class cannot enter any classes in the Main Jumping Ring. Kindly sponsored by Nicola Jenner Driving Instructor.

Class 25- 3.15pm Bucket Elimination. Open to all combinations of horse/pony & rider. A line of 12 buckets to start and as each round is completed a bucket will be removed until a winner is found. Only clear combinations will progress to the next round. Any refusals, run outs, falls or buckets removed/knocked over from the line you will be eliminated. One practice go will be given in round 1 only. All competitors will be in the ring at the same time and the steward will advise you when it is your turn to jump. Class 7- 9.30am Ring Experience Rider -Open to all riders who need to gain experience riding in the show ring. Guidance will be offered by the judge where appropriate. Kindly sponsored by Perfect Paws Dog Grooming.

Class 8- 10.15am Best Lead Rein Combination- Open to all genuine lead rein combinations. Judged on suitability of horse/pony as lead rein and riders riding ability. Kindly sponsored by Mary Chapple. Highest placed MDRA member will receive the ‘Sparkie’ Memorial Trophy kindly donated by Mary Chapple.

Class 9- 11.00am Best Rider 12yrs and under- Open to any rider 12yrs and under off the lead rein. Judged on riders’ ability only. Class 9 & 10 may be combined if insufficient entries in these classes. Kindly sponsored by The Rural Planning Practice.

Class 10- 11.45am Best Rider 13yrs and over- Open to any rider 13yrs and over. Judged on riders’ ability only. Class 9 & 10 may be combined if insufficient entries in these classes. Kindly sponsored by Thomas Camera Service.

Class 11- 1.15pm Ridden Youngster 4 & 5 yrs old- Will be judged on horse/pony level of training and performance in the ring. Kindly sponsored by Louise Phippen.

Class 12- 2.00pm MDRA All rounder of the Year- Open to all. Judged on suitability to hack and compete at local riding club events. Looks are immaterial. You will be required to give a short show to include 2 small jumps. Kindly sponsored by Rickards Windows & Conservatories. Highest placed MDRA member will receive the ‘Sunshine’ Memorial shield kindly donated by Helen Wells.

Class 13- 2.45pm Retrained Thoroughbred Racehorse- Open to any Thoroughbred that has been in racehorse training but does not had to of raced. Judged on suitability as an everyday riding horse. Race injuries will not be judged. Kindly sponsored by Lambert & Foster Estate Agents. Highest placed MDRA member will receive a Horse Trophy kindly donated by the Bowman family.

Class 14- 3.30pm Best Part Bred Horse or Pony- Judged on condition, confirmation and movement. Kindly sponsored by Liz Akenhead.

MIXED SHOWING RING Ridden & In-Hand

Class 15- 9.30am Ring Experience Horse In-Hand only- Open to any age horse/pony & handler but any child under the age of 12 must have an adult with them. Guidance will be offered by the judge where appropriate. Kindly sponsored by Osmonds Transport & Planning Ltd.

Class 16- 10.15am Mountain and Moorland Ridden or In-Hand- Open any age horse/pony pure or part bred. Judged on breed type. No colts over 2yrs please. Kindly sponsored by The Purr’fick Cattery.

Class 17- 11.00am Veteran Ridden or In-Hand- Open to any horse/pony aged genuinely over 16yrs of age. There will be no group canter but canter can be included in individual show. Kindly sponsored by Putlands Veterinary Surgery. Highest placed MDRA member will receive the ‘Badals’ Memorial shield kindly sponsored by Louise Phippen.

Class 18- 11.45am Coloured Ridden or In-Hand- Skewbald, Piebald, Spots, Duns and Palomino. No colts over the age of 2yrs please. Kindly sponsored by Cherry Tree Pet Crematorium.

Class 19- 1.15pm Fancy Dress Ridden or In-Hand- Open to all ages! Dress to impress (hard hats & riding boots must be incorporated into the costume) Special rosette to best adult fancy dress. Kindly sponsored by Moatlands Farm Ltd.

Class 20- 2.00pm Age Combination Ridden or In-Hand- Combination age of horse/pony & rider/handler must be 50yrs and over. Judged on suitability and turnout of combination. Special rosette to oldest combination (ages will need to be on entry form). Kindly sponsored by Broadfeed Ltd.

Class 21- 2.45 Prettiest Mare Ridden or In-Hand- Open to any age horse/pony. Kindly sponsored by Saxbys Home Dog Boarding. Highest placed MDRA member will receive the Karen Merritt Memorial Trophy.

Class 22- 3.30pm Most Handsome Gelding Ridden or In-Hand- Open to any age horse/pony but no colts over 2yrs please. Kindly sponsored by Colin Coley LTD

DRESSAGE ARENA (Surfaced) To start at 9.00am

Dressage tests are available from most tack shops on online from BD website.

These classes are all self stewarding- please proceed to the Dressage Arena 5 minutes before you start time.

Class 26 British Dressage Intro B- Walk and Trot test- Restricted to combinations that have not been placed 1st or 2nd in any Prelim Test.

If you enter Class 26 you will not be allowed to enter classes 28 or 29.

Rules and Conditions of Entry.

1. No colts or stallions over the age of 2 yrs are permitted on the show ground. 2. Approved BSEN 1384 or PAS015 securely fastened hard hats must be worn at all times when mounted. Approved body protectors are recommended. 3. Cantering is ONLY permitted in the designated warm up areas or in the ring- NO CANTERING is allowed anywhere else on the show ground. Anyone seen riding in a manner likely to endanger any persons or animals will be ordered to leave the showground. 4. All horses/ponies must carry with them passports and up to date vaccinations against equine influenza and Tetanus. 5. No horse/pony to be ridden more than once in each class and cannot be entered in more than 3 jumping classes. All ridden horses must be 4yrs or over. MDRA reserve the right to ask for proof of age for any horse/pony including all age defined classes. 6. BSJA and BD rules apply. Correct dress for all classes (no short sleeves in ANY jumping classes) and BD approved snaffles in dressage classes. 7. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY: Neither the organisers, owners of the land, nor any person acting on their behalf, accept any responsibility for any loss, damage, injury or illness to horse/pony, competitors, spectators or any person or property whatsoever while on the showground or while entering or leaving the showground. Each competitor shall be responsible for any loss, injury or damage that may be done to or occasioned by, or arising from any animal, article or property, exhibited or brought into the showground by them and shall indemnify and hold harmless the Matfield and District Riders Association, persons acting on their behalf and the owners of the land from and against any actions, suits, expenses and claims on account of or in respect of any such damage or injury which may be caused or occasioned. 8. HEALTH and SAFETY: The organisers have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents and must obey the instructions of the organisers and all officials and stewards. Any person seen riding in an irresponsible manner, or in a way which is detrimental to the interests of the land owner, will be asked to leave the showground. 9. Dogs MUST be kept on leads at all times and any mess cleared up. 10. Classes may be limited at the organisers’ direction and they reserve the right to refuse entry. The organisers also have the right to split or combine any classes or change rings. 11. The organisers will not permit excessive use of whips, spurs or bad language. Anyone reported doing so will be liable for disqualification and will be asked to leave the showground. 12. Refunds can only be made on production of a Veterinary or Doctors certificate. 13. Litter bins are provided for use or take your rubbish home. Do not muck out your horse boxes or leave rubbish on ground as the field is used for grazing horses after the show. 14. In case of bad weather please ring 01892 724315 on Saturday 1st August for a recorded message if show has been cancelled or postponed. 15. In the event of show cancellation entry fees will be refunded other than a £2 per competitor to cover costs on receipt of a stamped address envelope with the entries secretary. 16. The Judges decision is FINAL 17. All children under 16yrs age must be accompanied by a responsible adult. 18. If you are late to one of your entered classes it will be the judge’s decision to allow entry. If you are refused entry there will be no refund of costs you may have incurred for that or any other class/entry.

PRIZES DETAILS

Class winners will receive a prize. Sponsor rosettes to sixth place and a special rosette will be awarded to the highest places MDRA member in each class. All extra trophies awarded where applicable to the highest placed MDRA member will need to be signed for at the secretary’s tent before they can be taken away.

DIRECTIONS TO SHOWGROUND

GATES WILL NOT BE OPEN UNTIL 8AM ON THE 2nd August. From the B2160 (Hop Farm Country Park to Paddock Wood) via Lucks Lane (opposite Paddock Wood Garden Centre), turn left at junction with Queen Street and Willow Lane is next road on the right (after S bend). Showground will be found on right after approx half a mile- please close gates on arrival and upon leaving if gates are not covered by a steward. Some approach roads to the showground are narrow so please be cautious. If you have not attended show before please check we recommend you check your route. Entrance will be sign posted on day of show.
