  • MICHAEL YEZERSKI Composer FILM CREDITS
MICHAEL YEZERSKI Composer Michael Yezerski’s musical works are highly evocative, original and diverse. From the symphonic grittiness of THE TAX COLLECTOR to the quiet drama of BLINDSPOTTING; from the avant- garde horror drones of THE DEVIL’S CANDY to the heartfelt FEEL THE BEAT and THE BLACK BALLOON; Michael brings a signature musical intensity to every project he takes on. Hailing originally from Australia, and with a background in both contemporary concert music and electronic music production, Michael blends styles and influences in a way that pushes the boundaries of what dramatic film music can be. Rich in technique and sitting comfortably at the border with avant-garde music design, Michael’s work is nevertheless fundamentally human and melodic at its core. Born in Sydney, Michael is a multiple award-winning composer who creates music that is shaped from the perspective of an outsider – constantly fluid, ever changing, unbound by system – curious and always evolving. Recent projects include the hit international series MR INBETWEEN, Keith Thomas’ wondrously terrifying THE VIGIL and the Stephen Dorff starrer DEPUTY for FOX / Cedar Park. Earlier career highlights include HBO’s ONLY THE DEAD SEE THE END OF WAR, his first feature film THE BLACK BALLOON (winner of 8 AFI/AACTA Awards including Best Picture), PJ Hogan’s MENTAL, WOLF CREEK SERIES 2, CATCHING MILAT, PETER ALLEN, the Academy Award winning animated short, THE LOST THING and his collaboration with Richard Tognetti and the Australian Chamber Orchestra, THE RED TREE. Byron Shire Mayor Jan Barham said the draft plan details the services and programs to be delivered by Council along with an overview of capital works planned for 2010/11. ‘It’s a challenging budget for this upcoming financial year,’ she said in a press release. ‘The recently an- nounced rate pegging of 2.6 per cent by the NSW government makes it impossible to maintain the level of service expected by our residents and ratepayers. ‘A 2.6 per cent cap does not cover the real costs that Council experi- ences and doesn’t allow for increases in electricity, wages and equipment. Unfortunately, the continual cost shifting from the state government to local councils will mean a special rate application for Council for the upcoming financial year.’ Council is seeking a 6.98% special rate increase for 2010/11. The rate in- crease on the general fund will be used for one million dollars’ worth of services and programs including the new Byron Bay Library $100,000, Byron Sport and Cultural Complex $120,000, Byron Regional Sport and Cultural Complex maintenance $186,000, increased regional library Protesters gathered last Saturday at the proposed Tallowood Ridge Estate subdivision site at Mullumbimby to reinforce their call for residents to attend a contribution $84,000, information Land and Environment Court hearing at the Byron Bay courthouse on Wednesday April 28.

The Moorabool News FREE Your Local News Tuesday 5 November, 2013 Serving Ballan and district since 1872 Phone 5368 1966 Fax 5368 2764 Vol 7 No 43 He’s our man! By Kate Taylor Central Ward Councillor Paul Tatchell has been voted as Moorabool’s new Mayor. East Ward Councillor John Spain was voted in as Deputy Mayor. Outgoing Mayor Pat Toohey did not re-nominate at the Statutory and Annual Appointments Meeting held last Wednesday 30 October, where Mayor Tatchell won the role with a 5-2 majority. Nominated by East Ward Councillor Allan Comrie, Cr Tatchell gained votes from fellow councillors Comrie, David Edwards, Tonia Dudzik and John Spain. West Ward Councillor Tom Sullivan was nominated and voted for by Pat Toohey. New Mayor Tatchell told the meeting he was very fortunate to have been given the privilege of the role. “For former mayor Pat Toohey, to have come on board and then taken on the role of Mayor with four new councillors, he jumped straight in the driver’s seat… and the first few months were very difficult, but he persevered with extreme patience. “And to the experienced councillors we came in contact with from day one, with years of experience, without that, I can’t imagine how a council could have operated with seven new faces. We are incredibly fortunate to have those experienced councillors on board.” Mayor Tatchell also hinted at a vision for more unity in the future. “A bit less of ‘I’ and more of ‘we,’” he said. Deputy Mayor Spain was voted in with votes from councillors Dudzik, Edwards, and Comrie, with Mayor Tatchell not required to cast a vote on a majority decision.

An Australian Broadcasting Corporation edition of its flagship investigative reporting program, Four Corners, was on the verge of exposing the ingrained and festering culture of sexual predatory behaviour among rugby league players. The NRL was accustomed to this kind of attack after years of dealing with a long line of similar exposés, but this was to become the program that brought the problem to an audience wider than just the NRL faithful. Rugby league legend Phil Gould on Channel 9’s The Footy Show labelled this “a sledgehammer blow to the NRL” (The Footy Show). One of rugby league’s most highly regarded ex-players and then co-host of The Footy Show was Matthew Johns.

Sir Peter Leitch’s Mad Butcher Club AT MT SMART STADIUM, HOME OF THE MIGHTY VODAFONE WARRIORS 9th July 2015 Newsletter #80 To subscribe or unsubscribe email: stephan. maier@medstar. co. nz Congratulations Highlanders! Photos courtesy of www. photosport. co. nz The Grand Final Produced One Of The Most Super Matches Of Them All By John Deaker HERE WAS huge anticipation building up to Saturday night’s Super rugby final between the Hurricanes Tand the Highlanders and unlike many big games in a lot of sports the match more than lived up to the great expectations people had for it. Individuals and teams sometimes tense up on the big stage or are coached into changing their game plan come finals time. Thankfully for those of us lucky enough to watch Saturday night’s match both teams came to the big stage prepared to back the dynamic and expansive styles of play that had got them there. Unfortunately for the Hurricanes they weren’t as accurate with their execution as they had been for most of the season. The Highlanders also deserve credit for being prepared to meet fire with fire and put the Hurri- canes off their game. Two sporting clichés that were epitomized on Saturday night by Elliott Dixon’s crucial try for the Highland- ers just before halftime are: ‘You make your own luck’ and ‘Sport is a game of inches’. Dixon’s negative body language told the story that the replays also revealed to most viewers at home with big, HD screens – he’d done brilliantly to get to the line but he failed to ground the ball correctly.
