Situation Overview.

 ALERT LEVEL 4 remains in effect which means that hazardous explosive eruptions are highly possible and therefore, all existing danger zones should be considered very high-risk and should remain off-limits until further notice.

B. Status of Evacuation Operations

 The total number of evacuees is 6,993 families or 32,758 persons coming from the 26 barangays of Sto. Domingo, , , Malilipot and and from the cities of Legaspi, and . They are temporarily housed in the 25 evacuation centers while some families prefer to stay outside the evacuation centers .

II. Humanitarian Response A. Cost of Assistance

 The amount of assistance from national (DSWD, DOH, BFAR and PNRC), local (LGUs, NGOs and other GOs ) and foreign donation is P27,048,952.59 (cash – P9,961,296.00 and in kind – P17,087,656.59)

 The amount of standby funds from OP, DSWD, DOH and PNRC is P262,313,268.21.

B. Assessment Re Mayon Operations

1. Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) • Water problem was addressed in Sto. Domingo and Camalig where two water purifiers are available. The tankers from Candaba, Pampanga were rationing water to these areas where potable water was a problem.

• Water jugs/containers were provided by the LGUs and NGOs for storing potable water.

• One hundred (100) units of portalets are in place in all evacuation centers. Based on my assessment, the number will suffice as kybo toilets are still being built. As soon as the kybo toilets are ready, the portalets can be pulled out.

• Allocation of inflatable water tank to be used at Bagumbayan Elementary School for domestic use.

2. Power/Logistics • Four (4) generator sets are on stand-by in different evacuation centers to ensure that power can be supplied to centers despite brownouts.

- 1 unit 30 KVA generator installed in San Andres Resettlement Site, Santo Domingo - 1 unit 150 KVA generator set installed at Guinobatan East Central School - 1 unit 16 KVA set installed at San Jose Elementary School, Malilipot, - 1 unit 5 KVA generator set in Tabaco City

Health • The NDCC Field Medical Center has been set up in San Andres Resettlement Site in Santo Domingo, Albay. The field medical center has four beds and examination table to handle minor cases and has the capability to perform minor surgeries .

• AFPRESCOM installed tent hospitals in San Andres Evacuation Center, Sto Domingo and Gogon Elementary School in Legaspi City.

• AFPRESCOM conducted a medical mission on August 22-25, 2006 and attended to a total of 761 patients

• CHD-V purchased additional medicines and dental supplies for AFPRESCOM’s Medical Mission.

• DOH RO5 is continuously conducting regular surveillance and medical services on the health status of evacuees.

4. Evacuation Centers Management /Shelter • PDCC allocated tarpaulin tents provided by UNICEF for distribution to the evacuation centers to serve as holding area of the evacuees while classes are going on

• PDCC distributed 130 tents donated by Japanese Government, broken down as follows: Legazpi City (23), Ligao City (6), Tabaco City (20), Daraga (23), Malilipot (8), Sto. Domingo (23), Camalig (20) and Guinobatan (7)

5. Logistics • OCDRC-V facilitated the following:

- Installation of VHF Repeater in Estanza, Legaspi City to enhance transmitting capability - Repair of standby generator set (30 KVA) to be utilized in the tent hospital

- Transport of relief items donated by SM Foundation and Liberty Commodities.

- Facilitated the installation of pre-fabricated shelters in Sto. Domingo, Albay

- Coordinated with Task Force Mayon regarding the request of MDCC Guinobatan fort the use of two (2) 6x6 trucks to service returning evacuees today, August 28, 2006.

- Coordinated with PDCCs/MDCCs re updates on the number of evacuees (evacuees from barangays San Fernando and San Isidro, Sto Domingo, Albay decamped Friday afternoon, August 25, 2006 while evacuees from barangay Maninila, Guinobatan will decamp Monday or Tuesday).
