Este tipo de actividad mercantil, aunque escasamente abordada por los investigadores, presenta un indudable interés, no en vano ha sido tradicionalmente la encargada de cumplir -como indicamos en aquel estudio- «la misión primordial de subsanar las insuficiencias de los canales de distribución y de suplir las carencias, a nivel local, de unos equipamientos comerciales embrionarios»; pero actualmente no es un mero fenómeno residual, como lo demuestran «la amplitud de sus manifestaciones y el respaldo de unos hábitos de compra extendidos entre dilatadas capas de población, a menudo urbana». En lugar de la clásica trajinería y el deambular itinerante, hoy en día la modalidad de ambulancia más generalizada (la única a la que aquí haremos referencia) es la del vendedor que hace escala periódica en determinadas poblaciones, estacionándose regularmente en los llamados mercadillos, esto es, unos recintos acotados dentro del callejero urbano donde, con una frecuencia usualmente semanal, los ambulantes erigen sus tenderetes y, en conjunto, ofertan una gran variedad de mercancías, por lo común orientadas a servir las necesidades más cotidianas. The potential of these vías verdes as strategical green infrastructure linkers between settlements and their peripheral natural environments is assessed in two Spanish case studies of Girona and Alicante. The territorial elements that affect vías verdes (natural landscape areas, urban settlements and population) are obtained from public administration sources. Additionally, users’ activity through the Wikilock social network is considered. The spatial analysis shows the role of vías verdes in terms of landscape value, accessibility and planning strategy: the itineraries of the vías verdes connect different valuable natural areas with diverse landscape patterns in near proximity to urban nuclei; more than 65% of the population can access a vía verde in less than 200 metres. Moreover, it offers the opportunity to complete a network which could link urban nuclei and their natural periphery through the refurbishment of the remaining stretches. Despite the fact that the full potential of these vías verdes as strategical greenways has not been fully considered in the green infrastructure planning, these corridors could meet environmental, cultural and social sustainable goals.

Con las páginas siguientes se pretende con­ tribuir al estudio de todas aquellas poblaciones que en los comienzos de la Edad Moderna estuvieron integradas en el territorio ciudadano y, paulatinamente, fueron desgajándose del mismo. Se trata de analizar la significación que tuvo para las gentes de estos lugares su pertenencia a los términos particular o general de Alicante, más concretamente: de qué manera iniciaron su periplo histórico como municipios independientes y cuáles fueron las condiciones impuestas a cambio de ello; en qué medida alcanzaron realmente la facultad de autogobernarse, o qué conflictos les enfrentaron con mayor frecuencia a la ciudad. Y, sin embargo, pese a las múltiples discrepancias internas, cuestiones como las aguas de riego, los pastos y las contribuciones fiscales, entre otras, aglutinaron los intereses de es­ tas poblaciones en torno a Alicante, como cabecera, construyendo un sólido frente común capaz de oponerse a otras localidades periféricas.     PRESOS EN EL CAMPO DE CONCENTRACIÓN DE ALBATERA Francisco Moreno Sáez Este listado se ha elaborado a partir de las fichas carcelarias conservadas en el Archivo Histórico Provincial de Alicante (AHP), sección Instituciones Penitenciarias (IP). Además de fichas individuales, en algunas carpetas aparecen listados de presos enviados a Orihuela desde el propio campo de concentración de Albatera: estos listados, muy probablemente, fueron realizados a partir de datos tomados de vida voz –no debía existir en el campo de Albatera una excesiva organización– y, por tanto, presentan muchas discrepancias en nombres y apellidos con los datos que luego aparecen en los expedientes individuales de la cárcel de San Miguel. En algunos casos, nos hemos inclinado por la versión más habitual de nombres y apellidos, en otros hemos incluido las variantes. Por otro lado, es muy probable que existan errores en la propia documentación de la cárcel. Muy posiblemente, a la vista de esta documentación, haya que revisar las cifras que se manejan de prisioneros en el campo: desde luego, no parece que nunca hubiese allí 20.000 o 30.000 reclusos, pues si en principio fueron enviados a Albatera los apresados en el puerto de Alicante y recluidos en un primer momento en el Campo de los Almendros, estaríamos hablando de un máximo de 12.000 o 15.000 presos.
