The 88.9 km stage was a short start to the six-day 2.Pro race and was won from a 17-rider break that formed early in the stage. Norsgaard herself has been having a stellar season, as has Kopecky. Ellen van Dijk and Lizzie Deignan of Trek-Segafredo made their return to racing in Germany after illness sidelined them in the Spring. Norsgaard won the Festival Elsy Jacobs in the first week of May by winning two of the three stages. The Danish national champion has continued to storm through the 2021 season after a handful of second places in the Spring Classics. In between Festival Elsy Jacobs and LOTTO Thüringen, Norsgaard went to altitude for a training block with a few of the UAE-Team Emirates riders. The three weeks out of racing clearly boosted Norsgaard’s edge. She will start stage 2 of the LOTTO Thüringen Ladies Tour in the leader’s jersey. Stage two of the race features three intermediate sprints and four categorized mountains, although they are the short, punchy type. The finish is a false-downhill run into Gera and another good stage for Norsgaard. Kopecky, tied with Norsgaard on time in the general classification, would be a good pick for stage 2 of the LOTTO Thüringen Ladies Tour.     Ritten in lijn van Antwerpen naar Leuven voorgesteld 2021 UCI Road World Championships: op maat van de ‘flandrien’ Na de voorstelling gisteren van de tijdritten tussen Knokke-Heist en Brugge, presenteerde de organisatie van de 2021 UCI Road World Championships vandaag het parcours van de ritten in lijn. Die lopen van Antwerpen naar Leuven, waar ze na geaccidenteerde lussen door de stad en richting Overijse hun beslag krijgen op de Geldenaaksevest in Leuven. De 100e verjaardag van het WK wielrennen wordt in 2021 gevierd van 18 tot 26 september en begint met de tijdritten van Knokke-Heist naar Brugge. Een echt tijdritparcours voor specialisten, zoals gisteren al uitgebreid werd voorgesteld. De details vindt u hier nog eens terug. Vanaf vrijdag 24 september staan de wegritten op het programma. Daar vindt het internationale peloton het echte “Flandrien”-gevoel, met enkele korte steile hellingen en onze internationaal gekende kasseien. De elite mannen, vrouwen en de U23 starten in het centrum van Antwerpen en komen aan op de Geldenaaksevest in Leuven. De junioren mannen en vrouwen zullen hun wedstrijd volledig afleggen op de lokale lussen in en rond Leuven. Met Antwerpen en Leuven als gaststeden van het WK 2021, staan er - na Brugge de dagen voordien - ook weer twee echte historische Vlaamse kunststeden in de schijnwerpers. Op de Antwerpse Grote Markt, in de schaduw van de kathedraal, beginnen de mannen elite, vrouwen elite en de mannen U23 aan hun WK. De eerste kilometers leiden hen langs tal van iconische gebouwen die de Scheldestad rijk is: het MAS, het Havengebouw, het Centraal Station,... Via de Bolivartunnel, onder het Justitiepaleis, verlaten ze de stad en gaat het snel zuidwaarts.

    © Belga DE RONDE VAN FRANKRIJK Van 1 juli tot en met 23 juli Op zaterdag 1 juli gaat in het Duitse Düsseldorf de 104de Ronde van Frankrijk van start. Drie weken later, op zondag 23 juli, weten we of Chris Froome zichzelf opvolgt en z’n 4de eindzege kan pakken. Met passages door de vijf bergketens van Frankrijk - Vogezen, Jura, Pyreneeën, Centraal Massief en Alpen - zijn de lastige ritten gespreid over de hele Tour. Zo wil de 104e editie van de Ronde van Frankrijk kansen geven aan aanvallende coureurs om de hegemonie van sterke teams te doorbreken: In totaal moeten de renners 3.540 kilometer afleggen in 9 vlakke ritten, 5 bergritten en 2 tijdritten. Le Grand Départ op 1 juli is in Düsseldorf met een korte tijdrit. De tweede rit komt aan in België, in Luik. Tijdens de laatste week zijn er twee zware bergritten in de Alpen en op de voorlaatste dag een tijdrit in Marseille. Het belooft een spannende Tour te worden. De Brit Chris Froome is minder uitgesproken favoriet dan de voorbije jaren. Tot zijn belangrijkste uitdagers behoren de Australiër Richie Porte, de Colombiaan Nairo Quintana, de Spanjaarden Alberto Contador en Alejandro Valverde, de Italiaan Fabio Aru, de Fransman Romain Bardet en de Deen Jakob Fuglsang. Voor spektakel zorgt ongetwijfeld ook weer de Peter Sagan, die met een zesde groene trui het record van Erik Zabel kan evenaren. Van de Belgen moeten we niet meteen veel verwachten voor het eindklassement, maar er zijn er wel een heleboel die die etappes kunnen kleuren en eventueel winnen, onder meer Serge Pauwels, Thomas De Gendt, Greg Van Avermaet, Oliver Naesen, Philippe Gilbert, Tim Wellens en Tiesj Benoot.
