As we know that the quality education is necessary to build the nation. It is possible only when the academic activities are given utmost attention. With this in mind, I have taken up many initiatives to create the environment of better teaching and learning. It includes industry-institute interaction, improving communication and writing skills, innovation, start-up and entrepreneurship skills, emphasis on outcome based education, industrial visits, emphasis on practical learning, creation of facilities for learning through MOOC and NPTEL courses, library up gradation, awareness of our versatile culture, arrangement of motivational, GATE and remedial classes for weak students. In due course of time, I have planned to induct more staff and build more infrastructures. My endeavor shall be to introduce many more programs in this college in time to come. Today, most of the engineering graduates coming out from various colleges are unemployable due to lack of adequate desired knowledge in the field of their profession and lack of professional attitude. In order to enhance employability, the present academic curriculum would be revised and choice based credit system would be introduced with the inputs from the stakeholders. The students would also be continuously assessed and engaged in parallel certificate programs of their interest. The efforts shall be focused on overall development of the students to bring them at par with the students of premier institutions of the country. Therefore, co-curricular and extracurricular activities would be given due weightage. Our college is in a developing stage. Each one of us needs to put in efforts to the best of their capabilities, keeping a single point programme of taking the institution forward to enable it to become the institution of national importance in future. This needs people to be accountable and responsible, stakeholders need due representation in teaching, learning and decision making. I have all hopes from the Government of Himachal Pradesh to extend full support in uplifting technical education of the state and in my stated endeavors. Thanks and Jay Hind! Prof. Dr. D. P.
