Workplacement is being conducted over two weeks from 30 April to 11 May. During this time students experience the ‘world of work’ at an entry level and experience many of the require- ments of the host employers business/organisation. A member of staff of the em- ployer is made available to assist the student and to answer any questions. If you have a business and would like to assist with this valuable learning experience by being a host employer please contact Mrs Potts at the school. 313 Arts, Media & Entertainment Careers Excursion Students from Years 10, 11 and 12 were invited to attend the studios of 313 in Con- iston to learn more about Careers in the music industry. The group attended three workshops throughout the morning entitled Music, Television Production and Multime- dia. Students were given an indication of what skills they need to have in order to be successful in those industry specifi c areas. The emphasis of the workshops was practical and hands on by design and involved the areas of camera, sound, lighting, recording and design. The excursion gave our Page 4 WARILLA HIGH SCHOOL students an insight into the extent of knowledge needed for careers in this creative industry. Many thanks to the staff of 313 for providing this opportunity for our stu- dents. Mrs Brookes Careers Adviser SRC LEADERSHIP DAY Our SRC Reps had a very successful team building and planning day at Killalea State Park on Tuesday 20th March. The day began with some of Mr Berry’s co-operation games, such as Mummy Wrapping (making a Mummy of your partner with toilet paper – an amazing amount of skill displayed by a couple of our wrappers!), team tennis-ball juggling (certainly shows strengths and weaknesses!) and blind-fold obstacle course (only a couple of minor injuries sustained).

    Spring Edition – No: 48 2015 Commonwealth Vocational Education Scholarship 2015. I was awarded with the Premier Teaching Scholarship in Vocational Education and Training for 2015. The purpose of this study tour is to analyse and compare the Vocational Education and Training (Agriculture/Horticulture/Primary Industries) programs offered to school students in the USA in comparison to Australia and how these articulate or prepare students for post school vocational education and training. I will be travelling to the USA in January 2016 for five weeks. While there, I will visit schools, farms and also attend the Colorado Agriculture Teachers Conference on 29-30th January 2016. I am happy to send a detailed report of my experiences and share what I gained during this study tour with all Agriculture teachers out there. The open book often used for educational institutions is also included. The blazon is: Azure an open booi< proper bound gold on a chief wavy or three cinquefoils gules ANNUAL REPORT 1983 Friends of the University of WoUongong One of the objects of the Friends of the University is to assist the Council of the University to preserve, develop and maintain the standards, position and facilities of the University. Another is to attract and retain continuing interest in financial support . And a third is to solicit donations and gifts for the benefit of the University. During 1983 the Friends carried out these aims with its usual zeal. For examples: Uniadvice became a member of ATICCA (Australian Tertiary Institutions Consulting Companies Association); contact was made with Innovation Centre of NSW Ltd; contact was made with the newly formed branch of the Australian Inventors' Association; and, from July, Uniadvice and the University's Computer Centre established co­ operative arrangements which include Unadvice being the formal channel for the outside worJc of the Centre. Among the Friends' other activities are the organisation of a Graduates Committee, now having 300 members; and providing the University with expert advice and assistance on some capital works projects at the feasibility study stage. Contributions of cash and kind, and the dollar value of service given by the Friends, now exceed $226,000.
