Press Review City of Rijeka ECOlogical supporting for traffic Management in cOastal areas By using an InteLlIgenT sYstem 01/01/2018 - 30/09/2019 Press review City of Rijeka Ca' Foscari University of Venice Version: Final Distribution: public Date: 30.09.2019. WP 2: Project communication and capitalization activities ACT 2.3: Social media communication European Regional Development Fund www.italy-croatia.eu/acronym http://www.italy-croatia.eu/ Press review / public CONTRIBUTED TO THIS WORK Elena Gregoris, Ca' Foscari University of Venice / Institute of Polar Science of the National Research Council (ISP-CNR) Neda Suvajac, City of Rijeka 1 Press review / public During the ECOMOBILITY project implementation, operational and institutional partners were interviewed about the main objectives of the project, its activities and results. Combined, there were 3 newscasts on television, 23 articles on web portals and 8 articles in local and regional newspaper. The main goal of these interviews was to inform general public about the importance of ECOMOBILITY project, to raise public awareness of environmental issues and to encourage citizens to download and use EcoMobility app (application for planning ecological trips). Review of the video reportages 1. Type of video: newscast Date and hour: 30/01/2018 h 7:30 and 14:00 Channel: Rai 3 (regional diffusion) & Rai News 24 (national diffusion) Country: Italy Partners involved: Andrea Gambaro (UNIVE), Andrea Marin (UNIVE) Summary of the video: The reportage summarises the main objective of ECOMOBILITY. The main idea of the project is to use real-time pollution data in order to inform public bodies and citizens about pollution. The first part of the project will take into consideration the impact of ship traffic to air quality, in particular focusing on fine particles and nanoparticles. The second part will focus on the management of traffic, using data provided by ARPAV (the Prevention and Protection Regional Agency of Veneto) in form of real-time maps. The aim is to prevent pollution to exceed the law limit. The developed software will allow to identify specific trends on pollution. ECOMOBILITY will also develop an application for mobile devices, so that the information will be available for all citizens; the application will help citizens in making ecological choices. The reportage mentioned that the project activities will be conducted in Venice and Rijeka and it mentioned the funding of the European Community. 2. Type of video: newscast Date and hour: 16/05/2019, h 14:00 Partners involved: Salvatore Orlando (UNIVE), Elisa Morabito (UNIVE) 2 Press review / public Country: Italy Channel: Rai 3 (regional diffusion) Summary of the video: The reportages summarises the effort made by the Ca' Foscari University staff in connecting the information about pollution deriving from the monitoring station of ARPAV (the Prevention and Protection Regional Agency of Veneto) to an application for smartphone, which permit to visualise these information in form of maps. The aim is to avoid the most polluted areas of the cities, for improving health. Salvatore Orlando confirms the possibility of planning green routes using the EcoMobility app and that air pollution is a common problem both in Venice and in Mestre. As well as using pollution data from ARPAV, researchers are investigating air pollution with additional independent analysis. Elisa Morabito describes the experimental activities of ECOMOBILITY. The aim is to verify the possible correlation between maritime traffic and air pollution; specifically the ECOMOBILITY staff will focus not only on the concentration of particulate matter, but also on its quality. The reportage mentioned the funding of the European Community. 3. Type of video: newscast Date and hour: 16/05/2019, h 17:00 and 17/05/2019, h 7:30 Partners involved: Andrea Gambaro (UNIVE), Daniele Contini (ISAC-CNR), Ana Alebić Juretić (UNIRI), Francesco Andrea Antoniazzi, DAIS Channel: Kanal RI (regional diffusion) Country: Croatia Summary of the video: The first reportage about ECOMOBILITY project on regional television and on national language. Project partners talked about the process and the results of the measurement of airborne particles in Venice and Rijeka, including their fractional profile and the chemical composition, as well as the percentage of nanoparticles that were most harmful to human health. Partners also mentioned the EcoMobility app; the application that is enabling users to select travel routes through less polluted areas, as well as planning for 3 days in advance. Unfortunately, due to the absence of a dispersion model for the Kvarner Bay region, this application for Rijeka shows only trips through currently polluted areas. The regional 3 Press review / public dispersion model is considerably demanding and requires a good cadaster of regional emission (which is missing for now) and a team that could work on regional modeling. The reportage mentioned the funding of the European Community. My journey reflects this notion. My thanks and appreciation are extended to those who participated in the realization of this project. I am grateful to Dr. Michael Anthony Jones, now retired from the College of Architecture, who directed and guided my research, offered support and suggestions, and urged me forward from the beginning. Despite his retirement, Dr. Jones’ unfaltering guidance throughout the project serves as a testament to his dedication to the advancement of knowledge. The efforts and guidance of Dr. Hendrika Buelinckx, College of Architecture, Dr. Paul Carlson, Department of History, and Dr. Bryce Conrad, Department of English, ensured the successful completion of this project, and I thank them profusely for their untiring assistance, constructive criticism, and support. I am especially grateful to James Roth of the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston, Massachusetts, for his assistance, and I thank the John F. • Synonymous with Cinema: an Investigation Into Ingmar Bergman's
ISSN 2411-958X (Print) European Journal of September December 2019 ISSN 2411-4138 (Online) Interdisciplinary Studies Volume 5, Issue 3 Synonymous with Cinema: An Investigation into Ingmar Bergman’s Critical Reception in Italy Francesco Bono Dipartimento di Filosofia, Scienze Sociali, Umane e della Formazione, Università degli Studi di Perugia, Perugia, Italy Abstract The present essay intends to investigate the critical fortune of the Swedish world-famous theater and film director Ingmar Bergman in Italy. In particular, attention will be devoted to the reception of Bergman’s theatrical productions that were shown on Italian stages between the early 1970s, when some of Bergman’s theater productions were first seen in Italy, and the early 1990s, when Bergman’s production of Ibsen‘s A Doll’s House was one of his last theatrical productions to be shown in Italy. On the whole, only minor consideration has been accorded by Italian scholars in their studies on Bergman to his work in the theater. This is well illustrated by the various books on Bergman that have appeared in Italy over the years, which scarcely deal with his theatrical work. One reason for this may lay, as shall be shown in this essay, in the lateness and scarcity with which Bergman’s productions reached Italy. By drawing on a selection of reviews of Bergman’s theater productions published in major Italian newspapers from the 1970s to the 1990s, the following investigation intends to give an account of the Italian reception of Bergman’s work in the theater, from the specific qualities acknowledged to the Swedish director to the formulas, as will be seen, increasingly characterizing the critics’ judgments on him over the years, with the aim to shed light on the critical understanding of Bergman’s oeuvre in Italy.

  • Futurism in Venice, Crisis and “La Musica Dell'avvenire,” 1924*
The future of old media Tucked away in the recesses of the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana in Venice is a one-off Futurist periodical. The accumulated dust and lack of wear belie its significance. Entitled Arabau Barù (an idiosyncratic greeting used by the Venetian Futurists),2 the periodical was produced in Venice by local activists Renzo Bertozzi and Paolo Foscari to generate publicity on the eve of a musico-theatrical event at the city’s Teatro Goldoni on January 25, 1924. The publication marks a neglected moment in Futurism’s history. Styled as a four-page broadsheet, it exhibits the black and red text and typography favored by the Futurists (see Figure 1). The title typeface suggests both velocity and auditory volume: “Arabau” rises from a small to large font, and the letters of “Barù” are distributed on various horizontal lines, as if to suggest their transcription on a musical stave. The edition’s subtitle reads “argomento dei futuristi veneziani esce quando vuole e può” (Exposition of the Venetian Futurists, appearing when it wants to and can); inscribed in a vortical shape that resembles the electronic loudspeaker, it too suggests its sonic realization. Slogans are scattered across the page: to the left is the play on words “Marciare, non marcire” (March, don’t rot), taken from the 1915 manifesto “Il teatro futurista sintetico;” this is mirrored by “Tutto il futurismo!?!” to the right.3 *There are many people I would like to thank for their encouragement, support, and advice in the completion of this article: above all, Roger Parker, and also Tamsin Alexander, Ross Cole, Kate Guthrie, Katherine Hambridge, Axel Körner, Emanuele Senici, Francesca Vella, and Gavin Williams.
