July 2013 5 Investment Seminar - May 15, 2013 Speaker: Jay Blackburn Introduction by: /Dan Beck Reported by: Dan Beck

Current Investment Markets . There are many positive reasons and opportunities to invest today. Avoid listening to every newscast. Be happier by avoiding pessimistic comments regarding the market. Some consumer sentiments are down from listening to a mantra that stocks will be better next year. Inflation is contained. It is below 2%, which our economy can handle. Stocks are not expensive; look at their price earnings ratio. Global growth should pick up and turn positive. Housing is going above the asking price. Inventory is low with pricing improving the past 13 months. Earnings are up following corporate performance. An old saying is “don’t fight the Fed. Invest in the market”. Interest rates going up but Fed will keep them low over next two to three years. Natural gas prices are forced lower and lower in the USA due to fracking competition. Fifty percent Honeywell and G.E. earnings are earned outside of the USA as companies look for opportunities.

Q. Technology sector opportunities? A. Key is profit. Margins are huge and while some prices have dropped down don’t think it's ending soon.

Q. Apple hit $700, went below $400 and is now $456? A. Think $450 is expensive. BroadCom will do well as will Qualcom.

Q. Gold. A. “Is a greater fool investment”, last 10 years was great but has no earnings, no income, stay away from it.

Q. Silver? A. Has more support and larger functional base. Price base better than gold but still volatile.

Q. Housing i.e. Pulte Homes. A. Analysts feel such stocks are high.

Q. Is European situation negative? A. Enough positive events will occur over next several years to “right the ship”, especially in , Germany and England.

Q. Natural gas? A. Is close to a low and will go up. Be cautious, if you own a lot, don’t sell.

Q. Japan? A. Japanese equities will improve. Central Bank taking long-term positive steps.

Q. Should high yield issues be avoided? I’ve a tendency to acquire. A. If you experience two price drops it’s a sign of fundamental problems. High yields not supported by cash flow are to be avoided. Yield above 8% is a warning sign.

Q. Obamacare effect? A. Obamacare does nothing about most important aspect of health care. We don’t know what it costs.

Q. P&G? What’s wrong? A. Nothing wrong. It is a buy recommendation. Probably in the $23 range.

Jay is a very competent representative of his profession. We look forward to his return.
