The levels included are: *Domain *Kingdom *Phylum *Class *Order *Family *Genus *Species

Included in this file is a completed color version (page 3), a completed black and white version (page 4), and a student version of the chart with direcons (pages 5-6). I have also included a parally complete version for those who would like to complete the steps without the cung and pasng (page 7).

Binomial Nomenclature – a two-part name given to an organism; the first part is the genus name, the second part is the species name CLASSIFICATION OF LIVING THINGS – STUDENT DIRECTIONS 1. Color the name of the level of classificaon and the appropriate piece of the triangle to match. For example, color the widest piece of the triangle and the word “DOMAIN” blue. Starng with the largest piece and the broadest level of classificaon will help you to match them correctly. Work your way down from there. 2. Cut out all pieces and glue them to the empty triangle. 3. Write the definions for “taxonomy” and “binomial nomenclature.” 4. Draw a downward arrow along the le side of the triangle and label it “fewer organisms” to indicate that the farther down the triangle, the fewer the organisms in each level. 5. Write a mnemonic device on the right side of the triangle to help you remember the levels of classificaon in order.
