Utility player Jason Johnson is out 3/20/07 @ Utah + L 4-8 indefinitely following a surgical procedure last week from an injury in practice. 5/24/06 MWC Tourney W 9-8 Shortstop Danny Vargas returned last month from a moderate strain of the MCL 5/20/06 @ Utah W 6-2 with a knee injury (game 1 at UNLV). The BYUTV games are recorded in three languages: English, Spanish and BYU had a 13-game winning streak over Utah Portuguese. BYU’s 7-3 game at San Diego State was televised on The Mtn. until the Utes beat them in the 2004 tournament. Coach Vance Law and staff The Cougars have a 12-4 record over Utah in the Vance Law became a grandpa in March. The work was pioneered nearly twelve, years ago by Elder and Mrs. Marvin Walter on the ground made available by' Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gould- ing of the nearby Goulding Trading Post. The Mission Trailer began and expanded as the confidence of the Navajo people was gained. Building on this beginning those who have followed have developed a school, clinic, welfare center, new chapel, and now a new hospital. Indians from miles around who arrived by horseback, wagon, truck, and on foot joined with a number of our Adventist believers, members of the Hospital Board, and many visitors in dedicating this hospital. This new institution is the only hospital within a radius of One hundred miles.     A HISTORY OF = 'Wasatch County Jessie L. Embry UTAH CENTENNIAL COUNTY HISTORY SERIES A HISTORY OF Wasatch County Jessie L. Embry Native Americans used Wasatch County for hunting and gathering activities, but prob­ ably no permanent settlers lived in the area until the Mormons arrived in 1859. They established communities following Joseph Smith's Plat of the City of Zion. Rather than living on isolated homesteads, they lived in towns and set up their farms surrounding the villages. The harsh weather and distant water sources of the region also encouraged coop­ eration. The area became known for its dair­ ies and cattle and sheep industries. But while the towns in Wasatch County started as typical Mormon villages, they have become more dependent on outside eco­ nomic forces. The state and federal govern­ ments have developed many of the county's natural resources, but they generally are used outside the area. The county includes much of the Uinta and parts of the Wasatch and Ashley national forests and boasts three res­ ervoirs: Strawberry (1910), Deer Creek (1946), and Jordanelle (1995); however, the stored water is used elsewhere. Wasatch County's history is the story of a transition from independent Mormon villages to de­ pendent colonies and bedroom communi­ ties of larger population centers.
