Her major interests include the literary movements and authors of the turn of cen- tury (Hesse, Döblin, Hessel, Keyserling among others) and the post-war era (Grass, Böll, Weiss). Since 1989 she has mainly concentrated on aspects and problems of post-reunification literature. Recent publications include Nonkon- formismus und Experiment, in Handbuch Nachkriegskultur (ed. Elena Agazzi and Erhard Schütz, Berlin and Boston, 2013); Formen der Erinnerungskultur im vereinten Deutschland, in Erzählen zwischen geschichtlicher Spurensuche und Zeitgenossenschaft (ed. Monika Wolting and Edward Bialek, Dresden, 2015). Rebecca Braun is Senior Lecturer in German Studies at Lancaster University, UK, where she also directs the interdisciplinary research centre, Authors and the World (www. authorsandtheworld.com). She has published widely on post-war German litera ture and culture, including the monograph Constructing Authorship in the Work of Günter Grass (Oxford, 2008), the edited volumes (with Frank Brunssen) Changing the Nation: Günter Grass in International Perspective (Würzburg, 2008) and (with Lyn Marven) Cultural Impact in the German Context: Studies in Transmission, Reception, and Influence (Rochester, NY, 2010), and the special issue (with Andrew Piper) “World Authorship and German Literature” (Semi- nar, 51/2, 2015). Numerous shorter pieces investigating concepts of authorship, autobiography, celebrity, and popular public engagement with literary lives in 20th and 21st century Germany have appeared in UK, North American and Ger- man peer-reviewed journals and books. Elke Brems is assistant professor at the University of Leuven (Belgium). She is the coordi- nator of the Centre for Reception Studies (www.receptionstudies.be) and a member of the steering committee of the Centre for Translation Studies ( CETRA). Her research focuses on aspects of cultural transfer to and from the Low Countries in the 20th century. She also works as a literary critic. Jos Joosten is Professor of Dutch Literature at Radboud University (Nijmegen, The Nether- lands). He is a member of the research group SCARAB (Studying Cultural Infra- viii Notes On Contributors structure and Reception Across Borders) and has published several articles and books on the theory and practice of literary criticism and book reviewing. Liisa Laukkanen received der doctorate in 1986 from the Ruhr University in Bochum with her thesis: Rezeption des finnischen Epos Kalevala im deutschen Sprachraum im 19. Jahrhundert. From 1988–1994 she taught at the University of Essen. Since 1994 she has worked as university lecturer in Finland and is currently senior lecture in German Language and Literature at the University of Vaasa where she leads the research centre for Finnish-German literary relations. Stefan Neuhaus (born 1965) studied in Bamberg and Leeds. He received his doctorate in 1996, his ‘habilitation’ in 2001 and an honorary doctorate from the University of Gothenburg in 2005.
