Tomcikova is also moving her way up in the NCAA record books. The senior is currently slotted third all-time in saves in Division I history with 3,462. She moved past Molly Schaus of Boston College for third last weekend. She needs only 129 saves to surpass Shari Vogt of Minnesota State for second and to become the all-time leader in the WCHA for saves. Tomcikova also currently leads the NCAA and WCHA in saves this season with 889 saves. Bemidji State is still receving votes in both polls. Kelly Named WCHA Rookie of the Week...Again Captains • Rachael Kelly (Fr., F, Rosemount, Minn.) garnered WCHA Rookie of the Week honors Jan. Alana McElhinney 11 for the second time this season. Kelly picked up the honor earlier this season after talling a Montana Vichorek vital goal in BSU’s upset of then-No. 2 University of Minnesota Oct. 9. Kelly was selected this Marlee Wheelhouse week after notching two assists in the Beavers’ 4-0 win over Minnesota State.

Do-Over • Bemidji State has struggled in first games of series this season as they are only 4-12-2 (2-11-1 WCHA) in the first game of series. The Beavers snapped an 11-game WCHA skid with a win over St. Cloud State last Friday. However you do not want to catch the Beavers in the second game, or even moreso after they have suffered a loss. BSU is 12-4-1 in second games of series this season and 9-3-1 after suffering a loss.

More Power • The BSU power play is currently ranked sixth in the nation with 36 goals on 153 attempts. BSU set a school record last weekend with five power-play goals against St. Cloud State.

Moving Forward • The Bemidji State defense has done a great job of helping score goals this season. The Beaver defensemen have accounted for 99 of 266 points this season. Montana Vichorek ranks in the top 10 in the nation for defenseman scoring and is also among BSU’s top five scorers this sea- son. The BSU blue liners have scored 31 goals and tallied 68 assists this season led by Vicho- rek’s eight goals and 23 assists.

Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop • The Bemidji State women’s hockey team has been a scoring machine this season account- ing for 91 goals in 33 games. BSU’s 11 goals against Lindenwood marked their highest scoring output since tallying 15 goals versus Wayne State University in 1999.

Wheelhouse Selected WCHA Defensive Player of the Week • Erika Wheelhouse (Jr., D, Crookston, Minn.) earned WCHA Defensive Player of the Week honors for a second time this season after notching a goal and three assists to help BSU to a WCHA Breakdown split with No. 6 North Dakota. Wheelhouse also earned the honor after tallying six assists on the weekend against Ohio State University Oct. 7-8. The mark fell just one assist short of her season 2011-12 total from the 2010-11 campaign.

WCHA Players of the Week And The Points Keep Coming BSU has had two players tie the school record for most points in a single game this season as Montana Vichorek (Sr., D, Moose Lake, Minn.) and Sadie Lundquist (Jr., F, Cloquet, MInn.) have Offensive Players of the Week each tallied six points in a game. Vichorek notched two goals and four assists in a 8-1 win over St. Kathleen Rogan (MSU) - Oct. 5 Amanda Kessel (UM) - Oct. 12 Cloud State University while Lundquist tallied a goal and five assists versus Lindenwood University. Natalie Spooner (OSU) - Oct. 12 Vichorek’s mark also set the school record for points in a game by a defenseman.
