Praise for Love 'Em Or Lose ' Praise for Love ’Em or Lose ’Em “As an organization, we embraced the Love ’Em or Lose ’Em concepts, and our first year engagement scores were over six points higher than similar organizations in our industry and increased over our prior year score by sixteen points. Love ’Em or Lose ’Em is working for us.” —Michael Svagdis, President, Morrison Healthcare Food Services “A refreshing and effective approach to engaging the heads and hearts of those who define your brand and competitive advantage—employees! Kaye and Jordan-Evans continue to keep us armed with the most relevant and practical approaches to enlivening people.” —Curt Coffman, coauthor of First, Break All the Rules and Follow This Path “To be a great team, you need outstanding players. The authors show you how to engage your outstanding players and keep them on your team for a long time.” —Mike Krzyzewski, Head Coach, Duke University Men’s Basketball “Talent matters. Few dispute this truth. But keeping great talent continues to be a chal- lenge for many companies. This marvelous book offers numerous specific tools and hundreds of examples of how to care for people. Love ’Em or Lose ’Em is the best treatise on retain- ing talent available.” —Dave Ulrich, Professor, Ross School of Business, University of Michigan and coauthor of Leadership Brand: Developing Customer-Focused Leaders to Drive Performance and Build Lasting Value “Love ’Em or Lose ’Em is the unsurpassed source of practical, do-it-now retention tactics. When executives tell me that holding onto employees is a top concern, I steer them imme- diately to Beverly and Sharon’s guide. Build a more engaging workplace fast with the new edition of this classic!” —Doug Hardy, GM/Editor, Monster Careers and coauthor of the Monster Careers series and Finding Keepers: The Monster Guide to Hiring and Holding the World’s Best Employees “Love ’Em or Lose ’Em converts some of the perceived soft skills of leadership into an archetype for engaging people in powerful, retention-focused conversations. I’ve seen the genuine value of this book—the training course and especially the tools emerge as ‘can’t miss’ for helping leaders build trust and enable performance.” —Greg Mlodzinski, Leadership & Professional Development Consultant, The Hartford 7-21-11 Promotional Copy - Not for Resale or Distribution “This book was an instant classic because it is so smart and so easy to use. It is cutting edge and timeless at the same time. It is the book on employee retention and probably always will be. If you manage people, you should buy it and memorize it, and then keep your copy on your desk as a constant reminder. If you manage managers, buy a copy for every single one of them.” —Bruce Tulgan, author of It’s Okay to Be the Boss and Managing Generation X “Not only will this book help you attract and retain the best and most motivated employ- ees, it will also help you create and lead engaged employees. This book is a must-read for aspiring leaders and those looking for better results in the workplace.” —D. Michael Abrashoff, author of It’s Your Ship and Get Your Ship Together “In the war for talent, Synopsys has chosen Love ’Em or Lose ’Em as our prime field manual. As practical as it is insightful and thorough, this book has given our managers the principles and practices they need to retain our best and brightest people.” —Aart J. de Geus, Chairman and CEO, Synopsys “It makes no difference what business you are in (corporate/government/military), people are the single most important part of an organization. Understanding what makes peo- ple of different generations tick and why they react differently than expected to certain circumstances is absolutely critical to keeping them. This book will do just that for you! It is a must-read for all leaders and managers who want to see their dollars reinvested in their business instead of spending tons on recruiting and training a fluctuating workforce.” —Bill Pickavance, Vice President, Launch and Recovery Systems, and Florida Site Executive, United Space Alliance “A great business book for this millennium. Retain it and your business will prosper.” —Bob Rosner, author of the syndicated column “Working Wounded” and coauthor of The Boss’s Survival Guide “Down-to-earth and practical, it gives managers, supervisors, and leaders things that they can do tomorrow—no, today—to stop the brain-drain. You’d better read it before your best folks set sail for elsewhere.” —Bill Bridges, author of Transitions, JobShift, and Creating You & Co. 7-21-11 Promotional Copy - Not for Resale or Distribution LOVE 'EM OR LOSE 'EM 7-21-11 Promotional Copy - Not for Resale or Distribution Other books by Beverly Kaye and Sharon Jordan-Evans Love It, Don't Leave It: 26 Ways to Get What You Want at Work Up Is Not the Only Way Learning Journeys 7-21-11 Promotional Copy - Not for Resale or Distribution LOVE 'EM OR LOSE 'EM GETTING GOOD PEOPLE TO STAY Fourth Edition BEVERLY KAYE AND SHARON JORDAN–EVANS BK Berrett–Koehler Publishers, Inc. Cable News Network, almost always referred to by its initialism CNN, is a U.S. cable newsnetwork founded in 1980 by Ted Turner.[1][2] Upon its launch, CNN was the first network to provide 24-hour television news coverage,[3] and the first all-news television network in the United States.[4]While the news network has numerous affiliates, CNN primarily broadcasts from its headquarters at the CNN Center in Atlanta, the Time Warner Center in New York City, and studios in Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles. CNN is owned by parent company Time Warner, and the U.S. news network is a division of the Turner Broadcasting System.[5] CNN is sometimes referred to as CNN/U.S. to distinguish the North American channel from its international counterpart, CNN International. As of June 2008, CNN is available in over 93 million U.S. households.[6] Broadcast coverage extends to over 890,000 American hotel rooms,[6] and the U.S broadcast is also shown in Canada. Globally, CNN programming airs through CNN International, which can be seen by viewers in over 212 countries and territories.[7] In terms of regular viewers (Nielsen ratings), CNN rates as the United States' number two cable news network and has the most unique viewers (Nielsen Cume Ratings).[8] History Early history CNN's first broadcast with David Walkerand Lois Hart on June 1, 1980. Main article: History of CNN: 1980-2003 The Cable News Network was launched at 5:00 p.m. EST on Sunday June 1, 1980. After an introduction by Ted Turner, the husband and wife team of David Walker and Lois Hart anchored the first newscast.[9] Since its debut, CNN has expanded its reach to a number of cable and satellite television networks, several web sites, specialized closed-circuit networks (such as CNN Airport Network), and a radio network.

  • The Media Industry Is Complicit, and Good Journalists Pay the Price
Gaslit Nation 9 - The Media Industry is Complicit, and Good Journalists Pay the Price .. CLIP OF NATALIE PORTMAN’S SPEECH AT Variety’s Women of Power 2018: So what can you do? First, money. You can give or you can raise money for the Legal Defense Fund. Second, gather. Meet with other women and see what changes you want to make. Through times up or on your own gathering has been the central principle of what we do and has created every action we have taken. Third, listen if any group you're in has people who only look like you, change that group. It’s an awakening experience to hear from women who have different experiences of marginalization. Fourth, demand. The women in this room are the most powerful women in our industry. All you in this room have the power to negotiate for equal pay, or grant equal pay, or popularize equal pay in our culture. Be embarrassed if everyone in your workplace looks like you. Pay attention to physical ability, age, race, sexual orientation, gender identity and make sure you've got all kinds of experiences represented. Fifth, gossip well. Stop the rhetoric that a woman is crazy or difficult. If a man says to you that a woman is crazy or difficult, ask him what bad thing did you do to her. That's a code. That's a code word. He is trying to discredit her reputation. Make efforts to hire people who've had their reputation smeared and retaliation. Sixth, don't be shy.

  • Media Babes MULTIPLE EXAMPLES from CABLE NEWS
Media Babes By Stephanie Taylor SPECIAL FOR FILMS FOR TWO® MULTIPLE EXAMPLES FROM CABLE NEWS Should anchor women be "hot?" According to GQ Magazine, the answer is yes. Megyn Kelly is the host of America Live on the Fox News Channel, a show which discusses legal and political issues. Kelly was interviewed by GQ (the men’s magazine) for their December 2010 issue. With tongue in cheek, Greg Veis called his article "She Reports, We Decided: She's Hot," riffing on the Fox News slogan "We report you decide." Kelly’s show launched in February 2010. According to Business Insider, ratings for America Live shot up after publication of the GQ interview (which included photos of Kelly posed in a little black dress slip with red platform-heeled sandals). So, do sexier women anchors bring in higher ratings? I don’t want to base my argument on a photo layout for a men’s magazine, so here are some examples of how Kelly appears on air: On Feb 18, while interviewing country music star Joe Nichols about his participation in a charity to raise money to support the military, Kelly wore a fitted sleeveless dark red V-neck dress. On Feb 20, while reporting on an 11-year-old boy who had been arrested for drawing violent pictures, Kelly wore a black long sleeved top with an asymmetrical neckline. © Stephanie Taylor Page 1 of 3 3/6/11 On Feb 23, while hosting a debate on whether or not a toddler should live, Kelly wore a hot pink long sleeved top showing a bit of cleavage.
