Churchill Bar
CHURCHILL BAR The space currently occupied by Churchill Bar is adjacent to the original Grand Entrance to the hotel and has hosted a variety of restaurants and shops through the years. Although the hotel has always hosted a bar and gentlemen’s smoking lounge, there have been many forms of this, including the original lounge located near what is now Ship Tavern, and Henry C’s Bar, named for the hotel founder. Churchill Bar, in its current incarnation, was opened on February 22, 1996, and since that time has featured fine cigars and spirits in an intimate, library-like setting. Churchill Bar is notable as one of the few venues in Denver in which guests can still enjoy a drink and a cigar indoors since the 2006 smoking ban. “The Sultan’s Dream” by Virgilio Tojetti was commissioned for the Brown Palace and has hung in the hotel continuously since opening in 1892. This work of art currently hangs in Churchill Bar over one of our oversized leather couches, overseeing guests as they enjoy single- malt scotches, small batch bourbons, classic cocktails and, of course, premium cigars. Churchill Bar is a members’ lounge, with yearly memberships available for purchase. Our members have access to a private humidor stored in our humidor cabinet, as well as priority seating and the ability to make reservations. Lobby Tea: No visit to our luxury hotel in Denver is complete without experiencing afternoon tea at The Brown Palace. Complete with herbal teas, scones, and finger sandwiches, our Denver tea room provides guests the opportunity to witness the unique long- standing tradition that is afternoon tea in Denver.
