    Press Kit 2018 // introduction Launched in 2016 by Renault Sport Racing and Renault Sport Formula One Team, the Renault Sport Academy is tasked with discovering and nurturing young driver talent through the racing ranks, where, ultimately, Renault Sport Formula One Team aims to find drivers able to deliver the team world championship titles. Drivers are selected on ability and potential, with the Academy able to draw upon Renault Sport Racing’s vast experience in motorsport as well as its global markets to find such talent. Mia Sharizman manages the programme and has a range of experience in motorsport including at Formula 1, Formula 2 and GP3 level. For 2018, the Academy has retained four drivers from its 2017 intake. Jack Aitken, a member since its inception in 2016, signs for a third year, as does Sun Yue Yang. Max Fewtrell and Christian Lundgaard both impressed in their first seasons with the Academy and both remain for a second year. The Academy is delighted to welcome three new drivers to the programme. As part of his prize for winning the highly-competitive Formula Renault Eurocup, Sacha Fenestraz has agreed to accept a place with the Academy.     WELCOME BACK TO BAKU Dear friends, On behalf of Baku City Circuit, please let me welcome you to the third successive Formula 1 race weekend in Azerbaijan. Last year’s race in Baku was widely recognised as the most exciting and dramatic race of the year – if not the decade – by members of the media, teams, drivers and the global F1 fanbase alike. It truly was a race that had it all culminating in the most unexpected podium line up in many years. The fact that this historic race occurred under our new event title as the FORMULA 1 AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX filled us with an even greater sense of pride and satisfaction for a job well done. This year we once again welcome the world to Baku at the slightly earlier date of late April to bear witness to the awe-inspiring sight of F1 cars negotiating one of the fastest and most testing circuits in Formula 1. Baku City Circuit’s winding, narrow sequences, 90-degree turns and high-speed straights - all set against the breath- taking backdrop of Baku’s UNESCO-protected old city, magnificent skylines and beautiful seaside promenade - have proven to be a major challenge to the current F1 grid, resulting in last year’s spectacular outcome and many on-track altercations. We are very confident of a similar explosion of drama, speed and bravery occurring once again for the 2018 edition. Furthermore, the off-track entertainment will be bigger and better than ever before with world-class music, visual and conceptual artists once again performing all along the specially constructed Fan Zone all weekend.

    Communiqué De Presse 27 FÉVRIER 2019 Renault F1 Team completes 2019 driver line­up Renault F1 Team is pleased to confirm its full driver line­up for the 2019 FIA Formula 1 World Championship. Nico Hülkenberg and Daniel Ricciardo will be joined by Sergey Sirotkin as Reserve Driver, with Jack Aitken as Test Driver. The quartet will be complemented by Development Driver Guanyu Zhou. In Sergey, Renault gains an experienced driver who is well accustomed to modern Formula 1 machinery. After spells as Renault Test Driver in 2016 and Third & Reserve Driver in 2017, Sergey graduated to a full­time F1 race seat in 2018 with Williams. Sergey will dovetail his F1 commitments this year with a programme in the FIA World Endurance Championship with SMP Racing. Jack graduated from the Renault Sport Academy in 2019 after a three­year tenure, during which time he competed in the GP3 series and FIA Formula 2 Championship.
