This report gives an account of the work of the Panel on Food Safety and Environmental Hygiene from July 2002 to June 2003. The Panel was formed by a resolution passed by the Council on 20 December 2000, as amended on 9 October 2002, for the purpose of monitoring and examining Government policies and issues of public concern relating to food safety, environmental hygiene and agriculture and fisheries. The Panel had been closely monitoring the surveillance system and the enhanced hygiene measures to reduce recurrence of avian influenza following the three outbreaks in Hong Kong in December 1997, May 2001 and February 2002. As an Investigation Team was appointed by the Administration to investigate the causes of the last outbreak in February 2002, the Panel had held further discussions with the Administration on the investigation findings and recommendations to control avian influenza. -

The objectives of the strategy are to achieve a legitimate higher level of protection of citizens and of the environment against hazardous chemicals. It is also an opportunity to encourage innovation for the development of safe and sustainable alternatives and to promote the EU industry as a global frontrunner in the chemicals production and use. -

Proposal to add U+2B95 Rightwards Black Arrow to Unicode Emoji J. S. Choi, 2015‐12‐12 Abstract In the Unicode Standard 7.0 from 2014, ⮕ U+2B95 was added with the intent to complete the family of black arrows encoded by ⬅⬆⬇ U+2B05–U+2B07. However, due to historical timing, ⮕ U+2B95 was not yet encoded when the Unicode Emoji were frst encoded in 2009–2010, and thus the family of four emoji black arrows were mapped not only to ⬅⬆⬇ U+2B05–U+2B07 but also to ➡ U+27A1—a compatibility character for ITC Zapf Dingbats—instead of ⮕ U+2B95. It is thus proposed that ⮕ U+2B95 be added to the set of Unicode emoji characters and be given emoji‐ and text‐style standardized variants, in order to match the properties of its siblings ⬅⬆⬇ U+2B05–U+2B07, with which it is explicitly unifed. 1 Introduction Tis document primarily discusses fve encoded characters, already in Unicode as of 2015: ⮕ U+2B95 Rightwards Black Arrow: Te main encoded character being discussed. Regulation 1272/2008 includes provisions for two types of classification: harmonised classi- R fication and self-classification. The harmonised classification of substances is decided at Community level and a list of harmonised classifications is included in the Annex VI of the classification, labelling CLP and packaging Regulation (CLP). If a chemical substance is not included in the harmonised classifi- HE cation list it must be self-classified, based on available information, according to the requirements of T Annex I of the CLP Regulation. CLP appoints that the harmonised classification will be performed for carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic to reproduction substances (CMR substances) and for respira- tory sensitisers category 1 and for other hazard classes on a case-by-case basis. The first step of clas- sification is the gathering of available and relevant information. This paper presents the procedure for gathering information and to obtain data. Many customers today are finding Unicode to be essential to supporting their global businesses. Oracle provides consulting services for very large or complex environments to help minimize the downtime while maximizing the safe migration of business critical data. Why migrate? Database character set migration often occurs from a requirement to support new languages. As companies internationalize their operations and expand services to customers all around the world, they find the need to support data storage of more World languages than are available within their existing database character set. Historically, many legacy systems required support for only one or possibly a few languages; therefore, the original character set chosen had a limited repertoire of characters that could be supported. For example, in America a 7-bit character set called ASCII is satisfactory for supporting English data exclusively. While in Europe a variety of 8 bit European character sets can support specific subsets of European languages together with English. In Asia, multi byte character sets that could support a given Asian language and English were chosen. These were reasonable choices that fulfilled the initial requirements and provided the best combination of economy and performance. -
