But, three incompletions resulted in a 22-yard Patterson kick with 1:23 left. The RedHawks held the lead until early in the second when Ohio State’s Devin Smith made a one-handed 23-yard TD catch. The Buckeyes followed up the score with two more in the half for a 21-3 lead that would have become even bigger except for a goal-line stand from at the 1 on the final play of the half. Ohio State increased the lead to 35-3 with the first two scores of the second half before Dysert hooked up with Harwell for a 44-yard TD pass with 10:24 left in the third quarter.
