MP Yousef Al-Fadhalah said on his Twitter account that he will file to grill the prime minister on March 5 if the government allows Health Minister Jamal Al-Harbi to quit, while leaving “suspected corrupt senior bureaucrats” in their positions. The lawmaker said that he had learned that Harbi offered his resignation on Monday during the Cabinet meeting after his demand to sack the undersecretary and a number of senior officials was not accepted by the Cabinet. The controversy over the health minister has been growing even before the November election, after reports that the cost of sending Kuwaitis for treatment abroad skyrocketed to new highs. Some MPs put it at as high as KD 750 million last year. Opposition MPs have alleged that a majority of those sent for treatment abroad were in fact not patients but sent on what they described as “medical tourism or politi- cal medication”, under which thousands of fake patients were sent abroad to appease certain MPs.

  • Spirit Drop Their NWSL Opener to NC Courage
Spirit drop their NWSL Opener to NC Courage Posted by TBNDavid On 04/16/2017 Boyds, MD (April 15, 2017) – The Washington Spirit dropped a 1-0 decision to the North Carolina Courage on Saturday afternoon in front of 2,407 fans at Maureen Hendricks Field, as a 19th minute goal by McCall Zerboni on an assist from Makenzy Doniak proved to be the difference on opening day of the 2017 National Women’s Soccer League regular season. Washington goalkeeper Stephanie Labbé racked up eight saves in the loss, several of which came in challenging 1v1 situations from inside the box. The Canadian international and 2016 Rio Olympic bronze medalist was simply dominant in the second half, denying a flurry of shots from reigning MVP Lynn Williams, 2016 Best XI forward Jessica McDonald and offseason acquisition Debinha. “To only concede one goal says a lot about [Labbé’s] performance as a shot stopper,” said Spirit head coach Jim Gabarra. “We’d like to have her get a lot less work in most games, but [the Courage] are one of the top attacking teams in the league. Overall I thought she saved us on numerous occasions.” North Carolina’s prolific attack piled up 21 total shots on the afternoon, nine of which were on target. The Spirit recorded four total shots, none on target. Washington came closest to equalizing in the 63rd minute when Tori Huster sent a pass down the field to Katie Stengel, who beat her defender but missed wide right as her momentum carried her toward the endline.

  • Player Chemistry: Striving for a Perfectly Balanced Soccer Team
Player Chemistry: Striving for a Perfectly Balanced Soccer Team 1 1,2 Lotte Bransen ‒ Jan Van Haaren 1 2 S ciSports, The Netherlands ‒ K U Leuven, Belgium {l.bransen, j.vanhaaren}@scisports.com 1. Introduction In the dying hours of the 2010/2011 winter transfer window, Liverpool signed Andy Carroll from Newcastle United. Although The Reds had to break their transfer record, Carroll never met the expectations. The forward, who had scored 11 goals in 19 matches for The Magpies in the first half of the season, managed just 6 goals from 44 appearances for Liverpool. The then-22-year-old Carroll is a tall target man thriving from crosses, but Liverpool did not play that way and also did not have the appropriate players in their squad to accommodate his preferred playing style. In contrast, the more mobile Luis Suárez, who was signed on the same day and gelled much better with the players surrounding him on the pitch, scored 69 goals in 110 matches for Liverpool. Although this example illustrates the importance of chemistry among players, recruitment departments at soccer clubs still largely ignore this aspect in their evaluation of potential signings. Typically, scouts solely focus on the individual qualities of potential signings and do not account for the team balance and team chemistry in their judgments on the players. On one hand, assessing the potential chemistry with the players who are already on their team is hard by watching a limited number of matches either on tape or live in the stadium. On the other hand, existing soccer analytics tools that can process large volumes of match data mostly focus on evaluating the individual performances of players.
