The Municipality of Mogadouro is part of the CIM of Trás-os-Montes and NUT II of the Northern Region and is bounded to the North by the Municipality of Macedo de Cavaleiros and Vimioso, in the Northeast, by the Municipality of Miranda do Douro, West, by the Municipality of Alfândega da Fé, in the Southeast, through Spanish territory and to the South, by the Municipalities of Freixo de Espada à Cinta and Torre de Moncorvo.
