Rapport Om Regionale Konsekvenser Av En Endring Av Lufthavnstrukturen På Helgeland
The Nickel Mineralizationof the Rana Mafic Intrusion, Nordland, Norway
• THE NICKEL MINERALIZATIONOF THE RANA MAFIC INTRUSION, NORDLAND, NORWAY. Rognvald Boyd and Carl 0. Mathiesen Norges geologiskeundersøkelse,Postboks 3006, 7001 Trondheim, Norway. NORGES GEOLOGISKE UNDERSØKELSE ABSTRACT The Råna synorogenicCaledonide intrusion in north Norway contains pentlandite+pyrrhotite+chalcopyrite+pyritedisseminationsgrading up tO 0.8% sulfide nickel in peridotite in the northwesternpart of the body. Peridotite and pyroxenite occur as bands and lenses within a peripheral zone mainly of norite, around a core mainly of quartz-norite.Crystal settling appears to have been an important process at Råna but over much of the intrusion primary structureshave been severely disturbed by the later Caledonian fold phases which also involved local overthrusting: these movements resulted in iniolding and thrustingof units of semipel- itic and calesilicate gneiss and black schist into the intrusion. The body has the form of an inverted, possibly truncated cone with its axiS plunging northwestwardsat a moderate angle. The peridotites show no obvioUs systematicvariation of sulfide or silicate mineralogy across strike. Locally, ass&iated with certain deformation zones, disseminationpasses into ma3sive mobilized sulfide ti with up to 5% nickel. The proximity of sulfide-bearingblack schists to mineralized rocks, the occurrence of graphite djsseminated in peridotite and other factors, suggest assimilationof sulfur from the Country rocks. Sulfur isotope studies do not, however, offer confirmationof the hypo- thesis that an external source ot sulfur nas had more than very local significanceat Råna. 1 NORGES GEOLOGISKE UNDERSØKELSE • INTRODUCTION The Råna mafic intrusion lies at approximately68°30'N, in steep mountainous terrain 20 km soutnwest of the iron-ore port of Narvik in north Norway (Fig.1).The present paper will give a brief description of the general geology of the complex, with a more detailed consider- ation of the sulfide-bearingareas - especially the main one at Bruvann (Fig.2) - and of the cenetic implicationsinvolved. -
Revision of the EU's Arctic Strategy
Sent by e-mail Breivikbotn, November 9th 2020 Input – Revision of the EU’s Arctic strategy Additional input from a total of 40 municipalities in North Norway, to the public consultation regarding the revision of the EU’s Arctic strategy. The municipalities are represented by 5 inter- municipal counsils; Vest-Finnmark Rådet (7 municipalities in Troms and Finnmark County), Vesterålen regionråd (6 municipalities in Nordland County), Salten Regionråd (10 municipalities in Nordland County), Indre Helgeland Regionråd (5 municipalities in Nordland County) and Helgelandsrådet (12 municipalities in Nordland County); 1. In your view, what have been the EU’s main achievements and failures under each of the three priorities in the 2016 Joint Communication? Vest-Finnmark Rådet, Vesterålen regionråd, Salten Regionråd, Indre Helgeland Regionråd and Helgelandsrådet embraces the EU’s engagement in promoting sustainable development in the Arctic. This priority marks a positive shift in how the Arctic is perceived as a strategically important territory, with green growth potential for the region and Europe. The EU’s top priority should be to assist the region in overcoming the Arctic paradox. That is, changing a demographic trend that is inversely correlated with economic growth. A stable demographic development is a necessary precondition for development and security in the Arctic regions. The most important means of meeting regional challenges in the Nordic/European part of the Arctic is by making use of the large natural resources in the region to stimulate economic growth and create new attractive jobs including utilizing the research institutions in the Arctic. The EU’s Arctic engagement shows great achievement, as exemplified by the processes leading to the report on Arctic investment needs in 2017, and the EU Arctic Forum in 2019. -

A Frame - for Community, Celebration and Everyday Life Diploma Program FALL 2017
A Frame - for community, celebration and everyday life Diploma program FALL 2017 Jon Bjørn Dundas Morå Main Supervisor: Catherine Sunter Institute of Architecture Fauske Population: Fauske City: 6 138 Fauske Municipality: 9729 Fauske is a town and municipality located in Nordland county, Norway. It is part of the traditional district of Salten. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Fauske. Other villages include Nystad, Straumsnes, and Sulitjelma. The municipality borders Sweden in the east and the municipalities of Sørfold to the north, Bodø to the west, and Saltdal to the southeast. The town is located on the northern shore of Skjerstad Fjord. The Coat of arms was chosen to represent Fauske’s legacy as a center for trade and transportation along the fjord. There are several Marble quarries located in the municipality, which alongside Salten Kraftsamband and Fauske Lysverk make up the largest employers in the area. Source: Wikipedia Fauske is a community teeming with activity behind closed doors. Cafés and classrooms are home to clubs of everything from radio enthusiasts to dance troupes. A clarinet case on the bus, or an antiquated military jeep passing you on the street might be your only clues to the life transpiring around you. The activities are shaped by the space in which they are performed. Can these everyday activities be made extraordinary simply by providing a new spatial context for the performance? Fauske Municipality has for several years desired a community center for it’s cultural activities. Rodeo and Dyrø Moen architects won a competition for a new “Allaktivitetshus” in Fauske back in 2008 titled “Turbinen”1 The estimated size of their proposal was 4000m2 containing a very broad program: Multipurpose hall, cinema, Library, Youth center, offices and more. -

Nature decides both how and when to do things. National parks are established in order to protect large natural areas – from the coast to the mountains. This is done for the benefit of nature itself, for our sake and for generations to come. The national parks offer a wide range of opportunities and experiences. The natural surroundings are beautiful and varied. There is hunting, fishing, plants, birds, animals and cultural monuments. Accept our invitation – become acquainted with nature and our national parks. ldebyrå, Trond Loge. Front page: Solvågtind Directorate for Nature Management www.dirnat.no 3 o Junkerdal National Park An inspired area In Junkerdal National Park not only the animals and plants are alive, but also the mountains. Sami culture and tradition have left behind a wealth of traces and stories linked to the region. In old Sami culture, plants, animals and special places all possessed souls and had a considerable signi- ficance for the day-to-day life. At the edge of the national park is the highest frontier mountain in the country, the 1,776 meters high Nordsaulo. In Sami belief, this mountain was a guardian. The landscape in Junkerdal National Park provides an environment for an extremely diverse flora with a great many rare plants. The white mountain saxi- frage (Saxifraga paniculata), is found in only a few places in Norway, and of these, it is most widely distributed in Junkerdal National Park. -
