Gasach / Aserbaidschan Die Doktorarbeit untersucht die Wanderschafhaltung in ausgewähltem Unter- suchungsgebiet Gandja-Gasach in Aserbaidschan. In dieser Studie wurden der Landwirtschaftssektor in Aserbaidschan mit Fokus auf den Transformationspro- zess strukturell charakterisiert, die Eigenschaften der Wanderschafhaltungsbe- triebe dargestellt, die Ist-Situation der Wanderschafhaltung aus ökonomischer Sicht vertieft analysiert und daraus abgeleitet Schwachstellen identifiziert. Weiterhin wurden Lösungsansätze zur Verbesserung der Ist-Situation entwickelt. Die betriebsspezifischen Daten wurden von 120 Wanderschafhaltungsbetrieben in den Jahren 2009-2012 erhoben und je nach Fragetyp qualitativ und/oder quantitativ ausgewertet. Basierend auf wirtschaftlicher Bewertung sowie der Identifizierung von Schwachstellen wurden Lösungsansätze zur Verbesserung Naiba Allahverdiyeva der Ist-Situation entwickelt und Investition in Szenarien anhand von zwei Mo- dellbetrieben weiter analysiert, die Betriebe kleiner und mittlerer Größe reprä- Wirtschaftliche Bewertung von sentieren. Zudem ist ein Szenario für Tierarztgemeinschaften in der vorliegenden Arbeit entwickelt und deren Wirtschaftlichkeit bewertet worden. Wanderschafhaltungsbetrieben Die Analyse zeigt, dass die gemeinsamen Investitionstätigkeiten bei den Modell- in der Region Gandja - Gasach / betrieben erwartungsgemäß zu einer Verbesserung der ökonomischen Situation Aserbaidschan im Vergleich zur Investitionstätigkeit ohne Kooperation führen. Insbesondere die kleinen Betriebe können von einer Investition mit Kooperation profitieren und bei Status quo und Ableitung verhältnismäßig geringen Kostensteigerungen die höchsten Leistungszuwächse von Verbesserungspotentialen im Vergleich zu individuellen Investitionen erzielen. Abschließend wurden die Empfehlungen an Viehhalter und an geeignete Institu- tionen zur Änderung der institutionellen Rahmenbedingungen zur Verbesserung der Schwachstellen und tierärztlichen Betreuung etc. gegeben.     Azerbaijan mammals VLADIMIR DINETS Azerbaijan is a typical semi-Feudal post-Soviet country where everything – democracy, history, even geography – is fake. Google still shows the country’s borders as of 1989; in reality much of it is effectively part of Armenia. Despite having a military budget larger than Armenian GDP, Azerbaijan has so far resisted the temptation to re-conquer the lost territory, but skirmishes and shellings are common. It is better to stay away from the disputed areas, and from political subjects in conversations. Note that if you visit the disputed areas from Armenia without obtaining Azerbaijan’s permission, you are supposed to be forever denied entry to Azerbaijan, and can be jailed if you enter anyway. A Russian blogger recently did just that; Azerbaijan put out an Interpol warrant for him, had him arrested and extradited by Belarus, and gave him a 10- year prison sentence (the real reason, of course, was the guy’s blog posts critical of the ruling Aliyev family). Note also that the country’s collective memory of the war with Armenia and the events leading to it is largely false. I traveled in Azerbaijan in the years just before the collapse of the Soviet Union and the war with Armenia. There was already much inter-ethnic tension, but the people were friendly and hospitable to visitors; I am sure this hasn’t changed. The nature reserves I visited are still in place, and so is much of the wildlife, according to my friends who’ve been there more recently. Azerbaijan is a predominantly Islamic country.

Prior to starting of the process of the landscape planning, the exact objectives and the challenges were defined for the development of the territory to get the correct focus for the further research implementation stages.
