Level I: Training providers to provide single skill mini workshops that focus on teaching essential basic home repairs and maintenance to women homeowners and women in our community. WSB recognizes that ability to obtain these skills increases the participants skills, increases one’s sense of self-worth which leads to feeling empowered, more self-sufficient in home maintenance. Furthermore, these workshops provide the opportunity to generated interest in learning more about specific occupations in the construction industry and pursuing a career or become an entrepreneur. Level II: WSB is also seeking quotes from training providers to provide Construction Industry recognized certification training. Workforce Solutions Borderplex is committed to continue to develop ways to spark women interest in traditionally male dominated industries, support advancement and grow our business community. Please view the attached specifications/scope of work for detailed information on the services we are seeking. We request that you consider this information and send us your quote at your earliest convenience but no later than 2:00 p.m. on January 29, 2021 via the e-mail address listed above. However, quotes will also be accepted on a continuous basis beyond the initial deadline. Before the commencement of services and the exchange and/or allocation of funds occurs, WSB expects to enter into an agreement with the selected training provider(s) or to assign the agreement to Dynamic Workforce Solutions. WSB is not obligated to purchase from, enter into/ assign an agreement with any training provider/organization for any project. It is understood by the vendor(s) that if selected each shall fulfill its responsibilities under the resulting agreement in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations governing their activities and funding. Relay Texas: 711 (Voz) o 1-800-735-2989 (TTY) Specifications/Scope of Work The following, lists and explains the two (2) levels of services being requested by WSB, Level I – Mini-Workshops regarding home repair and maintenance skills workshops and Level II – Industry Recognized certification training. Level I - Mini-Workshops: The training provider will provide single skill mini-workshops related to basic real-world skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, safety do’s and don’ts and other common home repairs and maintenance to women homeowners and women in our community so they may have the skills to perform essential basic home repairs and maintenance themselves. The estimated number of participants is no less than a cohort of five (5) participants per workshop to start with possible increase in the number of cohorts and participants. At a minimum, the training shall cover the following workshops in a back to back series that leads to a certificate of completion of basic home repairs and maintenance series: • Single skill mini-workshop: review basic furnace and AC maintenance, teach how to change filters, thermostats, and repairs that can be done without a professional certification. • Single skill mini-workshop: review the basic home wiring system to understand the fuse box, how to identify faulty wiring and potential fire hazards, and next steps to fixing the problem • Single skill mini-workshop: review drywall repair and fastening techniques to safely install fixtures on the wall and fix damaged drywall. • Single skill mini-workshop: review fastening techniques to safely install light fixtures and light switch • Single skill mini-workshop: Review basic toilet plumbing techniques including how to fix faulty valves that cause a high water bill or how and how to turn off your water if there is a problem • Single skill mini-workshop: Review how to prepare a home for seasonal changes, including interior and exterior modifications. Skills sets obtained through workshops: • Change filters, repair hose/duct leaks, etc. related to furnace and AC maintenance • Understand fuse box, ability to identify faulty wiring, and steps need to fix the problem • Install drywall and fix damaged drywall • Techniques to safely install light fixtures and light switch on the wall • Toilet plumbing techniques that including how to fix faulty valves and how to turn off your water if there is a problem • Prepare a home for seasonal changes, including interior and exterior modifications. • Overview of guidelines and safety precautions while working on any home repairs Level II – Industry Recognized Certifications: The training provider will provide training certifications in the areas related to construction and facility maintenance, such training certifications that lead to employment in the following areas: • building site supervisor, • construction and building inspector, • HVAC/R – (heating ,ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration mechanic and installer), • plumber, • electrician and/or • construction related occupations. Skills obtained should be those skills sets required in order to receive the recognized industry certification in such areas as: • Carpentry • Framing • Painting • Drywall • Electrical • Pluming • Tile setter • Masonry • Supervision of building site For each skill set and/or training, the training provider is to identify if the training will take place at a training site location and/or through virtual instruction. The training provider should also estimate the number of participants required to begin the course. Please provide the following information as part of the response for either the Level I Mini-Workshops and/or Level II – Industry Recognized certifications. • Relevant experience • Specify which course could be done virtually, hybrid, and which one will need to be done in-person • Type of certifications that may be obtained and the requirements • Cost of services • Supplies and materials that would be included; cost for these items if they are not included as part of cost of the training • Supplies and materials that are excluded • Identify the timeframe for each mini-workshop or the timeframe it will take to complete of all mini- workshops • Proposed schedule • Location where the training would take place .
