How to Enroll: Participants must be 14 to 30 years old and must be physically fit and need not be in Interact or Rotaract. All you need now is to fill up the attached registration form, send it to the respective Rotary clubs thru your school if you are Rotaractor or an Interactor and are eligible to be sponsored. If you are not and wish to participate on your own, send your registration form Section 1 and 2 (if applicable) with attached cheque or money order of RM 450.00 or SGD 200.00, issued to: The Rotary Club of Johor Centennial, OCBC Bank Account No 710 119 6145 Swift Code OCBCMYKL Registration forms, payment cheques or prove of payment should be mailed to: Rotary Club of Johor Centennial, 36B Jalan Kunning, Taman Pelangi, Johor Bahru 80400 Participants travelling from outside the state of Johor and Singapore must have travel insurance to cover any medical emergency and repatriation. Passport must have at least six months validity, failing which you may be denied entry into Malaysia. Visa applications are the responsibility of the participants from countries requiring entry visas into Malaysia. Getting to Tanjung Sutera Resort: Follow signs to “KOTA TINGGI”. In Kota Tinggi, follow signs to “MERSING”. Approximately 15 km from the Desaru-Kota Tinggi junction towards Mersing, look out for “TG SEDILI” signboard and turn right. Proceed for another 1 km and turn right towards “TG SEDILI” and drive for another 21.2 km till you see a 4-junction traffic light. You shall turn left into direction of “SEDILI BESAR” . Cross over the bridge and drive on till you see “TANJUNG SUTERA” signboards. The resort is approximately 4 km from the Sungai Sedili Besar bridge. We will try and put up RYLA signs. OR fly to Senai or Changi Airport and join our RYLA Bus at Kranji MRT, Singapore or Dataran, Johor Baru. Please check latest bus schedules and flight schedules.     Technical Report No. 1/2007 ANALYSIS OF GROWTH PLOTS DATA FOR THE STATE OF JOHOR INTRODUCTION In the species-rich tropical forests, the most appropriate form of management is to rely on natural regeneration to provide the future crop through selective felling of the mature crop. Following the Selective Management System (SMS), as practiced in Peninsular Malaysia, advanced growth of 30-45 cm diameter at breast height (dbh) is expected to produce the next harvest. Therefore it is important to note that residual stands must be adequate in quantity and of a specific quality to ensure a future yield that is both economical and sustainable in the long term. An understanding of the distribution, regeneration status and growth potential of logged-over forests is important in ensuring the sustainable production of timber. An assessment of the residual stocking and development status of logged-over forests was carried out by examining the data obtained from growth plots that have been established in the State of Johor since 1992. Based on the enumeration of data obtained from these plots, the results of the analysis are discussed with particular reference to their implications on future production. METHODOLOGY Site description The growth plots in the State of Johor were randomly distributed in four (4) forest districts namely Northern Johor (Segamat) Forest District, Southern Johor (Johor Bahru) Forest District, Eastern Johor (Mersing) and Central Johor (Keluang) Forest District. A total of eleven (11) Growth Plots of were established. These plots were established based on the following characteristic, namely; (i) located in the Permanent Reserve Forest, (ii) number of years after logging to sufficiently represent the different stages of forest development after logging and (iii) available information on Pre-Felling Inventory and Post-Felling Inventory for the purpose of stocking and species comparison.
