Tatry mountain resorts, a.s. 29th November – start of winter season in the Tatras DEMÄNOVSKÁ DOLINA (21st November 2013) – The winter season of 2013/14 will begin in the Low and High Tatras on Friday, 29th November 2013. Temperatures are above zero, snow is still on its way but our resorts plan to open the winter traditionally – with a big music event called Winter Music Opening. On Saturday 30th November, the Happy End cub in Jasná will host the best Slovak artist such as TINA, MAJK SPIRIT or CELESTE BUCKINGHAM. Skiers will have to wait for a while until the most expected day of this winter season – the first skiing day comes. However, meteorologists predict lower, even freezing temperatures for next week, which would finally enable us to produce artificial snow for slopes. The winter will be opened symbolically on Mt. Chopok on Friday 29th November at high noon by switching on Christmas tree lights. The highest located, more than 2-metre tall Christmas tree from Demänovská Dolina (valley) will be brought by St. Nicholas himself and decorated by representatives of the regions of Liptov and Horehronie. Two most significant regions of Northern Slovakia will thus get united in an atypical way, on top of Mt. Chopok. The summit, which offers a beautiful panoramic view of the Western Tatras and the manifold region of Horehronie, will become a shelter where skiers can hide in bad, windy weather. Cold and numb bodies can be helped with a cup of warm tea served in the new scenic Rotunda restaurant. A piece of light that will be shining on the Christmas tree since Friday can be taken to every home, house or resort. Visitors will have a chance to admire or help decorate the Christmas tree at the upper station of the Funitel cable until the Three Kings Day. The Saturday programme on 30th November will begin with a special xDRIVE BMW race in the resort of Jasná and a great chance to win a luxurious car for the whole winter season. There will be several famous faces of Slovak and Czech show business to welcome the winter, such as tennis player Lukáš Rosol, TV presenter Michaela Ochotská, singer Jana Kocianová, actor Pavel Líška, sports commentator Karol Polák, actress Gabriela Marcinková and actor Lukáš Latinák. A special Aprés-ski Warm-up with a live guitar and saxophone performance by the FEELHARMONX will be prepared in the Champagne Bar all day long. The resort will also host L&J DEEJAYS AND MR. SMITH and a drum show by the CAMPANA BATUCADA. All those who visit the Happy End club in the evening will enjoy a crazy night party with: TINA, MAJK SPIRIT, CELESTE BUCKINGHAM, DJ BON FINIX, GRIMMY DANCE COMPANY SL and DJ EKG. Face and body painting is on the programme too. For more information please visit: http://www.jasna.sk/aktivity-a- eventy/eventy/winter-music-opening-30112013/.
