Todd Gutterman - President Greetings, everyone! Welcome to the 2021 Minnesota Selects Hockey Festival! I want to acknowledge the events of the past 18 months. We have all faced many unforeseen challenges, both within and beyond the hockey world. For the safety of everyone involved, the Minnesota Selects Executive Board made the difficult decisions to cancel the 2020 Festival and delay the 2021 Festival until now. While the dates have changed for this year, players and fans will still enjoy many of the features that have made our Festival great since its debut in 1989: * No gate fee. * High-quality jerseys with player names lettered on the back. * Saturday’s Skills Competition (a fan fave!) with prizes. * Sunday’s awards program, including individual player recognition and a strong focus on recognizing our student athletes. * The college-level program with a complete history of the Festival’s participants. * A weekend of great competition, excitement, and fun! On behalf of Minnesota Selects, I want to thank our 680 players and the coaches, families, friends, and volunteers for all the time, planning, and commitment it takes to make our tournament the success that it is and always has been. It’s been a long wait, but we are excited to be back for our 33rd year! • Air Force's Kyle Haak Wins the 2018-19 Senior CLASS Award For
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Air Force’s Kyle Haak Wins the 2018-19 Senior CLASS Award for Men’s Hockey OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (April 12, 2019) – Air Force forward Kyle Haak has been selected as the 2018-19 Senior CLASS Award® winner for NCAA® Division I men’s hockey. The award, chosen by a nationwide vote of Division I men’s hockey coaches, national hockey media and fans, is given annually to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in Division I men’s hockey. Haak is the second student-athlete from Air Force to win the Senior CLASS Award for men’s hockey after Jacques Lamoureux in 2011. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: classroom, community, character and competition. “I am extremely humbled by this award because of all the incredible accomplishments of the other candidates and amazing hockey players who have been a part of this award in the past," said Haak. "The Air Force coaching staff gave me a chance to play Division I hockey when no one else was willing to fully commit to a third-year, age-out, junior hockey player. This changed my life trajectory forever. Once at the Academy, I was supported by academic faculty and military mentors to pursue opportunities in academics and military leadership while being a student-athlete.
