Aim: the focus of the present study lies mostly on the incidence of SGBV in relation to accommodation conditions, putting the emphasis on the investigation of possible violations of International Law. Methodology: a field case study based on mixed retrospective research was carried out in Northern Greece (Thessaloniki and Veroia). Structured Interview and close-ended questionnaires were used for receiving data. Sample: Respondents included 58 (31.86%) women from a total number of 182 female residents of the two camps, aged between 16 and 59 years, coming from different parts of Asia (Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Iran and Palestine). Results: similar data were found in the two camps regarding the incidence of SGBV (high), the place where the reported violence occurred (in the vast majority survivor’s own house), and the alleged perpetrators (principally members of the family).

Robin des Bois counted 293 vessels sold for demolition in 2006, 288 in 2007 and 456 in 2008. In 2009, 1,006 vessels have left the waters, representing more than twice the 2008 total and three times the 2006 total. The total weight of recycled metal reached more than 8.2 million tons, five times the total amount of 2006. During this record year the pace of vessels leaving the oceans during the summer months has barely slowed down. The worldwide financial crisis weighed considerably on trade exchange; big ship owners have massively sent for demolition their oldest ships to adapt to the dropping of freight rates and to draw benefits from their recent ships.

MELOS’ TRADING NETWORK (VENICE, 1712-1732): STRUCTURAL CHARACTERISTICS AND TEMPORARY PARTNERSHIPS Eftychia Liata Abstract: The subject of this article is the life and especially the commercial activity of a Greek merchant of the diaspora, Georgios Antonios Melos. In the 1670s, at a young age, he left his native Athens and emigrated to Spain, the country of his mother’s origin. He first worked on the behalf of Spanish traders as a travelling merchant and also as an independent trader travelling to various markets in the Levant. He would soon have his own shop of colonial goods in Madrid, where he lived with his family until roughly the early eighteenth century. From 1712, now alone subsequent to the death of his family, he made Venice his home and initiated a commercial collaboration with his two brothers in Nauplion. For 20 years (he died in 1732), Georgios Melos engaged in varied and profitable commercial activities, mainly as corrispodente for other merchants, Greek, Italian and Spanish, but also on his own account, participating in a dense commercial network that spread to markets in Greece, Asia Minor, Egypt, Italy and Spain.
