A word from our Mayor……Trevor Pickering

Hi all in incredible Croydon

At the last Council Meeting in May the Draft Croydon Shire Council Planning Scheme was adopted by Council and is now out for public consultation. Council has tried to make the plan as easy as possible for people to carry out development in Croydon, while still abiding by the law. We have been really lucky to have Judy Austin and Brett Nancarrow, who are planning professionals from the Department of State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning assisting us with our draft plan. Judy and Brett will be in Croydon on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23 June, and will set up in the Library so the community can ask questions and talk about the planning scheme. If you have any questions or concerns please call in and see them. This is your opportunity to provide valuable comments to make Croydon better for everyone.

Council has decided to put their hand up to host the Institute of Public Works Engineering North Branch Conference in Croydon in 2020. Council has done this before in 2008 when Ron Diehm was the Works Manager and received loads of praise and congratulations on hosting such a memorable event that showed off Croydon. I am sure we can do it again in 2020.

The Croydon Caravan Park Infrastructure Development project is coming along nicely. All the power and water installation is complete, roads are being constructed and a couple of new cabins will be here in early July. The increased capacity at the park will be a boost to the community and businesses – more people in town brings more money to everyone.

Council has decided to fund a desexing clinic for dogs and cats in Croydon to try to help keep these animals under control. Tableland Vet Service will be coming to Croydon in June to do this. If you haven’t registered and you want to get your dog or cat desexed please ring Marnie at the Council Office so you don’t miss out.

I'll wrap it up now, please remember if you need me for anything just ring, see you in the next tele.

Cheers Trevor

Mayor Trevor Pickering Croydon Shire Council

So you thought Goldie-Locks was just out for a walk in the woods? Well you didn’t get the whole story. Goldie and the 3 B-bears is a hip-hop dance theatre show that uses spoken word, rhyme, music, drama and dance to let you in on what really went down.

Our main girl Goldie is a dancer who comes from a long line of famous dancers in the style of Locking. With enormous pressure for her to follow in her parents’ footsteps, Goldie wasn’t just out for a walk that day, she ran away from home.

When Goldie stumbles across the home of the three B-Bears she didn’t expect to find amazing break dancers with such great passion. The B-Bears teach Goldie about the importance of creativity, self-expression and learning from the old to create something new.

Goldie & the Three B-Bears is a dynamic show that will have families bouncing to the beats and groovin’ in their seats.
