Advanced Placement (AP) Courses:

AP courses are offered as an extension opportunity for those students desiring academic enrichment in addition to completing the requirements for the rigorous Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Trafalgar Castle began offering AP courses in 2004, and in Grade 11 (Junior year), students have the option of taking an AP course. In 2019- 2020, our Graduating Year (Senior) students have a choice of up to seven additional AP courses. All of our courses are taught by subject specialists; of our 34 faculty members, 12 hold Master’s degrees and one holds a Ph.D. In 2019, 89 per cent of our graduates were Ontario Scholars. Grading Policies:

The grading standards in the Ontario educational system differ from those used at American high schools. An “A” grade starts at 80 per cent, rather than 90 per cent, and our passing grade is 50 per cent. If the course is repeated, the highest grade achieved is counted for credit. These standards are mandated by the Ontario Ministry of Education, which accredits all public and independent schools in this province. Ontario (OSSD) transcript grades reflect a student’s final achievement over the course of an academic year.
