Position Announcement Head Women's Position Announcement Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach Hendrix College invites applications and nominations for the position of Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach, a full-time, 10-month coaching position reporting to the Executive Director of Athletics, Recreation & Wellness. The College seeks a leader for its new NCAA Division III women’s lacrosse program which will officially begin play in Spring 2014. This individual will work cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff across the Hendrix College community to advance excellence. The Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach will work with the Executive Director of Athletics, Recreation & Wellness to support the overall mission and vision of Hendrix College. Hendrix College is located in Conway, Arkansas and is a member of the NCAA Division III. Hendrix is a member of the Southern Athletic Association (SAA). The SAA includes: Birmingham-Southern College, Centre College, Hendrix College, Millsaps College, Oglethorpe University, Berry College, Rhodes College and Sewanee (the University of the South). Hendrix College, chartered in 1876, is an independent, private college affiliated with the United Methodist Church. The College has a diverse student body of approximately 1,450 students – 55% from Arkansas and 45% from out-of-state or country. Conway, a town of approximately 55,000 residents and home to three (3) institutions of higher education, is located 30 miles northwest of Little Rock at the edge of the Ozark Mountains. Hendrix has invested $23 million into new athletics and recreation facilities in the past five years, including an artificial turf playing field. The College’s athletic facilities were ranked #13 overall in the 2009 Princeton Review. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities The head coach is responsible for all facets of the women’s lacrosse program. The primary emphasis for the position is recruitment and retention of qualified student-athletes, and the administration of a competitive NCAA Division III women’s lacrosse program. Additional duties related to the program include: . Scheduling and coaching practices. Preparing and monitoring annual sport and recruiting budgets. Supervising a part-time coach. Complying with NCAA, SAA and Hendrix College rules and responsibilities. Candidates must possess a strong commitment to the academic mission and purposes of the College. Additional duties and responsibilities will be included and may include administrative duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Athletics, Recreation & Wellness. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience and qualifications. College benefits are included. Qualifications, Skills & Abilities . Bachelors degree required. Preference will be given to the candidate who has playing and/or coaching experience at the intercollegiate level in women’s lacrosse and who can demonstrate a proven ability to recruit quality student-athletes who fit the academic profile of the student body. The candidate must demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills and must be able to work effectively with staff, faculty, and other members of the College community. The successful applicant will be able to successfully articulate the values of a liberal arts education and the role intercollegiate athletics plays in the development of student-athletes.
