30 INTERVIEW EDGE n Thursday nights in America, life simply stops for somewhere between 10 inte rview Oand 20 million television viewers as they settle in for the newest episode of Grey’s Anatomy . Sandra Oh Sandra Oh is a major reason why. As Dr. Cristina Yang, she plays opposite the series’ title character, Dr. Meredith Grey, who is portrayed by Ellen Pompeo. They lead an ensemble cast that has become a second family to fans since the show first aired seven seasons ago. As J.M. Stewart discovered in this interview, Oh’s knack for creating signature characters (think Arli$$ and Sideways ) comes from an astonishingly honest place. Sandra’s greatest talent, however, may be the ability to keep her head and value her craft in a world where performers are measured by SAG Awards and Emmy Nominations. Of which she has plenty, by the way. EDGE: How was it conveyed to you that Grey’s Anatomy was a different kind of medical drama? s e g a m I It was never said or expressed SO: y t t e formally. Diagnosing Drama: Grey’s Anatomy, Blind Casting, and the Politics of Representation AMY LONG N FEBRUARY 5, 2006 NEARLY THIRTY-EIGHT MILLION VIEWERS CHOSE TO forego post-Super Bowl celebrations in favor of tuning in to a Omuch-hyped episode of ABC’s hit medical melodrama Grey’s Anatomy. The episode thus constitutes ‘‘the best scripted-series perfor- mance since the series finale of Friends’’ in 2004 and ‘‘the best per- formance of an ABC show since an episode of Home Improvement in 1994’’ (‘‘Grey’s Scores Big’’). Grey’s Anatomy and its multiracial ensem- ble stand in marked contrast to the all-white casts of both aforemen- tioned shows, a fact that has not been lost on media observers. When civil rights groups issued their annual ‘‘diversity report cards’’ for 2006, ABC garnered the highest overall grade of the four major net- works (an A-), thanks in part to shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Lost, and Ugly Betty (‘‘Grey’s Leads Charge’’). Its diverse cast and the production practices through which it was assembled have been the major focus of the media attention conferred upon Grey’s, second only to stories con- cerning the colossal audiences it routinely snags.1 The show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes (currently the only African American woman ‘‘showrunner’’ in network television), gives the credit for her show’s diversity to her ‘‘race-blind’’ casting methods. In her Time Magazine profile of the writer and producer, Jeanne McDowell notes that ‘‘[Rhimes’] script for the pilot had no physical descriptions [of its characters] other than gender,’’ a statement repeated in almost all of the popular press coverage the show receives.2 As Rhimes herself affirmed in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, ‘‘We really read every color actor for every single part.

  • 100 Sexiest Women in Comics List
100 sexiest women in comics list Continue As of 2017, Israeli actress Gal Gadot is the latest winner of FHM's 100 Sexiest Women. FHM's 100 Sexiest Women is an annual list compiled by the monthly British male lifestyle magazine FHM, on the basis of which women they consider sexy. As of 2017, each year the list is first announced through a section on the official FHM website, FHM.com. The first list was published in 1995 and was voted on by a group of 250 judges. The first winner was German supermodel Claudia Schiffer. From 1996 to 2015, the public voted for him, and at the peak of his growth, several million votes were cast each year. Then the winners were British singer Cheryl, American actress Halle Berry and Jennifer Lopez. (nb 1) At 36, Berry was the oldest woman ever to top the listing, while Lopez was the first to top it up more than once. By the time FHM stopped publishing its print edition in January 2016, the list of the 100 sexiest women had been compiled 21 times. Currently, the winner of the title Sexiest Woman is the Israeli actress Gal Gadot. Along with the list of the 100 sexiest women, FHM also published the List of Most Suitable Bachelors in 2006 and 2007 to celebrate such qualities as talent, star quality and cash. These lists were topped by American actress Mischa Barton and American socialite Kimberly Stewart, respectively. To mark the 10th and 20th anniversary of the list of the 100 sexiest women, two one-off charts showing the sexiest women were compiled in April 2004 and May 2014.

Gal Gadot Wears the Legendary Tiffany & Co. Elsa Peretti® Bone Cuff in her New Film, Wonder Woman 1984, in Theaters and Streaming on HBO Max December 25 | 1 Official Trailer, Wonder Woman 1984 Wonder Woman 1984 premieres Christmas Day and features Gal Gadot reprising her iconic role as Wonder Woman and alter ego Diana Prince. In the Patty Jenkins directed film, Gadot, as Prince, is wardrobed in the legendary Tiffany & Co. Elsa Peretti® Bone cuff in 18k yellow gold, a nod to Wonder Woman’s indestructible cuffs and a tribute to Prince’s real self—a hero. “Elsa Peretti® Bone cuff is still, to this day, the most stunning piece of jewelry that I’ve ever seen. I first became aware of this work of beauty when I received a small one as a gift from an ex’s mother. I loved it immediately, but even still, many years later when I glimpsed an editorial shot of someone wearing the long Bone cuff online, I didn’t realize it was related, and obsessively searched for what it was. When I found out it was Peretti’s extended cuff, it sealed the collection as a masterwork of adornment. My love of the cuffs became magically relevant when I directed the Wonder Woman films, as they marry perfectly with the character. As a result, we featured them as the one piece of jewelry that Diana Prince would choose in Wonder Woman 1984. It looks absolutely stunning on her, and I can’t wait for the world to see it featured in that way.” — Patty Jenkins The groundbreaking Elsa Peretti® design was introduced 50 years ago and perfectly contours to the wrist, showcasing the ergonomic sensuality that informs all of Peretti’s Tiffany & Co.

  • Something Interesting Is Happening. Harvey Weinstein Was the King of Hollywood
Something interesting is happening. Harvey Weinstein was the king of Hollywood. The King. He was also a bully that used his male power and privilege to harass and abuse women. His behavior was allowed to persist for years. Until now. Someone said something, and then someone else said something. Suddenly, a bigger conversation is happening. Why did it take years, decades, so many women impacted? Why are there so many examples, just like this one, in the worlds of politics, sports, families, and corporate environments? Let's make sure we keep this conversation going. Meet the boys and girls from Maine. Thousands of young people in Maine have worked with Maine Boys to Men and could talk with Harvey about the realities of male power and privilege, what empathy and emotional connectedness with others means, why gender equity in relationships is a good thing for everybody. They could talk with The Men Who Kept Harvey Weinstein Safe about what it means to be an ally; to stand up with women and girls to stop these actions before they become violent. They could explain the power that bystanders have and describe specific ways to disrupt sexist, disrespectful, and abusive behaviors long before they get to this point. In short, Harvey and so many others could learn a lot from the boys and girls from Maine! The Proof. A recent evaluation of our middle school Reducing Sexism and Violence Program (RSVP), led by the University of New Hampshire, demonstrated a significant decrease in the endorsement of attitudes supporting male power and privilege, a self- reported increase in emotional awareness, and a significant increase in the endorsement of gender equity in relationships! Multiple 3rd party evaluations of RSVP for High School, including a two- year study by the Maine Center for Public Health, showed that RSVP changes attitudes, behaviors, and beliefs about sexism, sexual harassment, and gender-based violence.

  • Crítica: Mujer Maravilla
Crítica: Mujer Maravilla Gal Gadot se apropió de la Mujer Maravilla. Ya en salas de cine de La Paz. Fotos: Internet.
