E-mail: [email protected], http://www.cydnidae.uni.opole.pl Abstract Five species representing the family Cydnidae sensu lato are recorded from Guam; three of them are reported for the first time from the island: Byrsinus varians (Fabricius, 1803), Fromundus biimpressus (Horváth, 1919), and Rhytidoporus indentatus Uhler, 1877. The widespread species, Fromundus pygmaeus (Dallas), was recorded by Ruckes (1963) and verified by us. The occurrence of a fifth species, previously listed from the island by Ruckes (1963) and Lis (1996), namely Adrisa flavomarginata (Vollenhoven, 1868), is regarded as doubtful. Of four currently known burrower bug species occurring on Guam, three are Oriental and one is American in origin. A key to all burrower bug species known from the island is provided. Additionally, Microporus shiromai Froeschner, 1976 from Hawaii is regarded as a junior synonym of Byrsinus varians (Fabricius, 1803). These volcanic islands were created by an eruption that also led to the formation of the Ulleungdo Islands (located in the East Sea), which are approximately 87.525 km away from Dokdo. Dokdo is important for geopolitical reasons; however, because of certain barriers to investigation, such as weather and time constraints, knowledge of its insect fauna is limited compared to that of Ulleungdo. Until 2017, insect fauna on Dokdo included 10 orders, 74 families, 165 species and 23 undetermined species; subsequently, from 2018 to 2019, we discovered 23 previously unrecorded species and three undetermined species via an insect survey. -

The new species is the third of the subfamily Sehirinae known from Namibia. Moreover, a DNA barcode sequence was generated for this new species (827 bp of cytochrome oxidase I) and was deposited in GenBank. Imada Hawaii Biological Survey Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum Honolulu, Hawai‘i 96817, USA Final Report prepared for the U.S. Navy Contribution No. 2021-003 to the Hawaii Biological Survey EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The Bishop Museum was contracted by the U.S. Navy to conduct surveys of terrestrial arthropods in Hālona Valley, Naval Magazine Lualualei Annex, in order to assess the status of populations of three groups of insects, including species at risk in those groups: picture-winged Drosophila (Diptera; flies), Hylaeus spp. (Hymenoptera; bees), and Rhyncogonus welchii (Coleoptera; weevils). The first complete survey of Lualualei for terrestrial arthropods was made by Bishop Museum in 1997. Since then, the Bishop Museum has conducted surveys in Hālona Valley in 2015, 2016–2017, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. The current survey was conducted from August 2020 through November 2020, comprising a total of 12 trips; using yellow water pan traps, pitfall traps, hand collecting, aerial net collecting, observations, vegetation beating, and a Malaise trap. The area chosen for study was a Sapindus oahuensis grove on a southeastern slope of mid-Hālona Valley. The area had potential for all three groups of arthropods to be present, especially the Rhyncogonus weevil, which has previously been found in association with Sapindus trees. Trapped and collected insects were taken back to the Bishop Museum for sorting, identification, data entry, and storage and preservation. The results of the surveys proved negative for any of the target groups. -

Luas kawasan Green Barrier PT. Pusri 28 hektar dan didominasi oleh 10 jenis vegetasi, yaitu Angsana (Pterocarpus indicus Wild), Bambu (Bambusa Sp), Beringin (Ficus benyamina), Buah Roda (Hura crepitans L), Jati (Tectona grandis L), Kelampayan (Neolamarckia cadamba), Ketapang (Terminalia catappa L), Mahoni (Swietenia macrophylla King), Pulai (Alstonia scholaris), dan Sengon (Paraserianthes falcataria L). Arthropoda tanah dikoleksi menggunakan pit fall traps dan corong barlese-tullgren, di setiap tipe vegetasi, antara bulan Juli-Agustus 2015. Identifikasi arthropoda tanah dilakukan di Laboratorium Entomologi dan analisis bahan organik tanah dilakukan di Laboratorium Tanah Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sriwijaya. Hasil penelitian diperoleh 3 kelas, 10 ordo, 28 famili dan 35 genera dibawah 10 vegetasi. Nilai indeks keanekaragaman arthropoda tanah di berbagai tipe vegetasi tergolong sedang (H= 1-3), dan tidak ada jenis arthropoda tanah yang dominan, artinya berbagai jenis arthropoda tanah tersebar merata pada berbagai tipe vegetasi di kawasan Green Barrier PT. Pusri. Faktor abiotik intensitas cahaya sangat memegang peranan penting dalam kehidupan komunitas arthropoda tanah di vegetasi Sengon (Paraserianthes falcataria L) dengan nilai koefisien korelasi 1,00. -
