New arrivals, 2019 to date: CHARLES PALMER MT, East Sussex | ALBERT BEERENS Champagne | CECILIA MONTE of Barbaresco | BARBACAN of Valtellina | SALVATORE FERRANDES of Pantelleria | LUCKERT's silvaner & fruhburgunder of Franconia | RAMIIISOL of Monticello Provenance, maturing stocks & old exchange rates: We are also traditional stockholders, with large, well stored stocks, some bought at old cost prices and exchange rates. We can therefore pass on some amazing values. We ship ~99% of our wines fro+A7181m producers, avoiding risk of fakes. Environmental footprint: Of the ~225 producers we often ship from (excluding Bordeaux GCCs), ~54% farm according to organic &/or biodynamic principles, (46% with certification.) A further 36% are in sustainable agriculture as a minimum; 5% are from mixed sources. (2019) ⓋⓋⓋ Vegan compatible: We listed ⓋⓋⓋVegan compatible wineries in 2017, after requests. Over 55% comply. [Most wine FYI is vegetarian] Product information: We've a growing collection of information sheets & press cuttings: do ask. Plus, some growers have splendid websites. Two warehouses: We bond in LCB's London-Tilbury facility. In Edinburgh we have The Vaults, thought to be the oldest working cellars in Britain, from the 12th Century. Many items are in both places. If an item is ONLY lying in The Vaults, it is usually marked (VAULTS) on the list. Orders combining wine from both places count as two minimum orders, two deliveries. We always try to facilitate. Raeburn Fine Wines: We remain wine-people importing wines we consider to be worth selling, drinking, thinking about, for our wine conscious clients. We spend >three months of the year buying, only possible with Taher, Humair, John & Co. patiently running things. For which, thanks. Producers working in various schools of reduced treatments are (still) described as SUSTAINABLE agriculture. Quite some are formally certified sustainable. Producers certified as ORGANIC , or BIODYNAMIC , are described as such. Those who are are compliant with certification bodies' guidelines, but are not certified, are described in inverted commas as 'organic-uncertified' or 'biodynamic-uncertified.' The reason for listing in this way is to communicate between wine professionals, in plain English. Please, be aware that uncertified wines simply cannot legally be described as organic or biodynamic to the public. As always in wine, trust in producers' qualitative and ethical ideas and actions, counts for more than scores and awards, classifications and certifications combined. NB The precise current farming status of any producer can be checked, upon request.
