Awarded a B.A in Drawing and Painting she has received several awards and public commissions and is a regular exhibitor throughout Scotland. In her work she combines colour, composition and tones to distil the harmonies and moods she sees in the landscapes around her. Sonas is an exciting new talent appearing in the Ecosse catalogue for the first time in 2006. He won a travelling scholarship from the Royal Academy, London in 1972. He lives and paints in the West Coast of Scotland and describes his work as “Expressionism influenced by Van Gogh”. Considered Scotland’s most prolific and successful Artist, his work is in many public and private collections. An exhibitor at the prestigious RSA he graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2000. His atmospheric figurative pieces reflect his interest in movement and light. In 1996 a near fatal heart attack encouraged him to work towards giving up teaching and becoming a full time painter. He is now considered one of the region’s finest talents and his critically acclaimed landscapes are much in demand. His art is highly collected and his designs for buildings such as the Glasgow School of Art and House for an Art Lover have brought him lasting fame and much retrospective praise. He met the Artist Margaret Macdonald, who was to become his wife in 1893. They married in 1900. The Glasgow Girls included Bessie Macnicol, Annie French and Jessie M King, and all went on to greatly influence the Art Nouveau and Illustrative movements. Margaret often contributed to her husband’s projects. He took tango lessons for over a year before his first picture on the subject. Born in Greenock, Andrew graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 1988. In his early twenties he received 2 Elizabeth Greenshields awards, which enabled him to travel and work in Italy and Spain, producing figure compositions conveying a timeless lack of action. He has had one man shows, notably in Edinburgh and Amsterdam and has exhibited in many group shows across Britain.
