9. CHELMER ROAD SPEED LIMIT REDUCTION

Correspondence has been received from Chelmsford City Council Cllr M. Bracken (Trinity Ward) advising members that following a request from local residents, he is applying to the Local Highways Panel to reduce the speed limit to 30MPH on Chelmer Road between the Sandford Road Traffic Light and the Toby Carvery Roundabout. There have been 10 accidents on this stretch of road over the past three years, two of which were serious. This road is on the border of & Beaulieu Park Ward and Trinity Ward in Chelmsford City Council; therefore, one side of the road is in the Springfield Parish Council area. Chelmsford City Cllr M. Bracken has secured support from Essex County Cllr M. Mackroy and three City Council members, as well as residents on the affected stretch of Chelmer Road. Chelmsford City Cllr M. Bracken is seeking support from Springfield Parish Council for the application. Writ Next Meeting: Monday 19th October 2020
