PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE It is with enormous pleasure that I welcome our honourable members to our Annual General Meeting-2019/20. Thank you for making the time via zoom this evening and being a part of our e- Kalvi charity’s mission of serving and improving the educational needs of Tamils living in our motherland, especially in disadvantaged and underprivileged areas. As a President, it is heartening to note that e-Kalvi charity has reached a significant milestone of Globalisation since its humble formation in 2014 as Jaffna University Graduates Association Victoria (JUGA). It has gone through an incredible journey by delivering e- Kalvi (e-learning), the most impactful solution to the current educational crisis in our homeland. Our passion for serving the community has never wavered and is stronger today than ever before. We have a moral obligation to help support children lift their living standards by improving their education and achieve their life goals. It has been an absolute privilege for me to lead e-Kalvi for last two years, with the help of dedicated committee members, volunteers and well- wishers, I am proud to say we have set up 36 e-Kalvi centres in the North, East and Malayaham. We provide offline video lessons for Mathematics, Science and English with multimedia equipment such as computer, tablets, multimedia projectors and multifunction laser copier. Our ultimate aim is to handover the e-Kalvi centers to the community so that they can raise the necessary funds and run independently. Even though the covid19 has negative impact on educational activities, e-Kalvi has found the alternative methods to deliver the education via zoom facility (online) and supply educational materials via USP drives to students who can study from home using even their LCD TV as off-line to reach maximum students during these shutdown period. We have also organised weekend GCE O/L past paper classes and the A/L science subjects via zoom using very highly talented and skilled teachers from North. In addition, we have taken the leadership in Sustainability of our e-learning projects and promoting STEM education by coordinating Education Ministry in Northern Province and the University of Jaffna. Over the course of the past year, we have undertaken successful e-Kalvi trials in Manner, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, Kilinochchi and Punkuduthivu. e-Kalvi is now can be achieved in the future by the Ministry of Education for the Northern Province. In addition, we have been able to set up 7 STEM seminars and practical sessions to teachers & students in conjunction with the Engineering Faculty in Kilinochchi. We look forward to your participation to make e-Kalvi Foundation a true global organisation, which is serving and improving all the educational needs of Tamils living in our motherland, totally and holistically. This is the mission and vision of e-Kalvi for the next few years, strategically placing the Foundation to be a true global leader, among the education providers of Tamils living in our motherland. This will be achieved with wholehearted support of all of you and hereafter, consisting of donors, well-wishers and supporters, without whom this mission would not have been possible. We trust that our e-Kalvi Foundation (Global) will arise, awake and stop not until the mission of placing and sustaining Tamil education, once again at the top of the ladder forever is achieved. This Mission would not have been possible without the consistent hard work and dedication of all of our committee members. I wish to sincerely thank our committee members for the crucial role they played in our success. I would also pass our sincere gratitude to our JUGA members and donors in Australia and overseas. Your support and generous contributions to our charity fund are making a tremendous difference for children in need. (Meaning: More than serving a thousand people with food, more than building ten thousand temples of faith, what is better is to educate an underprivileged person) Selvarajah Muraledaran President, e-Kalvi Charity Fund Inc.
